Been sitting watching Englands mauling of the Scots

JW has been unbelievable - is he the best ever Union player?

If we continue in this vein surely we will have a good chance in the world cup (well until we meet the Kiwis that is......)

He's not even the best right now for goodness sake.

Arw you seriously suggesting he's better than Dan Carter or Richie McCaw ?

Judging by his display in this evenings match, he's up there, Dan Carter is the best player in the world at the moment though. A lot of good performances though, Harry Ellis, Andy Farrell and Jo Worsley played well.

Given that he hasn't played international rugby for 3 years, I think he performed extremely well. He's certainly one of the best players in the world right now.

not sure why anyone could say Dan carter is better than jonny.

for 18 months jonny was the best in the world. Dan carter was playing then and wasn't rated better than jonny.

granted there's not a lot in it, but as an all round player there's not many that can beat jonny if at all.

Dont' forget this bloke has played 40 minutes of test rugby in 1200 days!!!!!! he comes on and plays absolutely amazingly, great reading, excellent defense, great attack, brilliant kicking.

who else in the world could do that after not hitting a rugby pitch for over 2 years? dan carter might be the only one?

Yep. Even if I was rooting for England that was a pretty outrageous decision given how clear it was on the slo-mo that his foot was in touch first.

Nevertheless, he tackled hard and kicked metronomically as before. Tindall and Ellis had outstanding games too, and nice to see Robinson play again.

By christ! Once again, Jonny Wilkinson is carrying the England side!

That try! Come on, that was in touch and he didn't get decent downward pressure, NO TRY!

If it wasn't for Wilkinson, England wouldn't have won the World Cup!

We were not completely out played, we had a cople of easy tries, which Italy could have defended against, if it was New Zealand etc they would have not let in those 2 tres by us!

I piece that I'll say, get di Rollo out of the team! Every possible ball he got in the 2nd half he dropped or knocked on! Not the sign of a world class centre! Got Morrison in the no13 shirt, hes big and powerful!

I reckon Scotland will win, the English are still rebuilding. They used to be world champions but not anymore, they may still hold the Webb-Ellis trophy but they are not a championship winning side. Why can't the fans face it, that they are not that good anymore.

I reckon Wilkinson will be the weak link in the backs for England, either that or he will be taken off at half time.

Surprised you had the balls to show your face again after posting this.

We apologise for letting you score a couple of easy tries. Don't worry it won't happen next year. We'll be back to drumming you by 50 points again.

He was certainly an excellent influence on the team, HOWEVER, some of the players such as Robinson, Vickery, Ellis etc had equally as good a game in terms of play making etc. They just didn't put them away as Wilkinson did.

Wilkinson is undoubtably a superb player, he's capable of scoring lots of points. If the boot was on the other foot, Scotland would be doing exactly the same thing.

Oh and whilst I agree that JWs try shouldn't have been allowed. It hardly influenced the game did it? We opened you up good and proper.

Wilkinson was definately on form today, pretty good for a guy with so little match practice. His try was a joke but thats another matter. On today's evidence he is getting back towards his form of 2003 - assuming he stays injury free. England as a whole still have a few question marks though, they easily beat an abject Scottish team but might struggle against the other top teams. Robinsons first try was good and Lund's was deserved but the other 2 were due to mistakes by others so still room for improvement in my opinion

What about the interference in the line out that lead to Scotland's first try? (or is only one eye working today )
