I don't think that's right.
James is definately unpredictable. He suffers from lapses of concentration.
Robinson doesn't...normally....but certainly isn't in the best of form for club or country. Having a player who really has no competition is bad and the press have made it out that way with Robbo. Hopefully pressure to keep himself at the top from a fit Kirkland and now Foster will sharpen him up. Radek Cerny at Spurs looks capable of keeping him on his toes there.

The idea of having a three man midfield of Lamps, Carrick and Gerrard was beyond belief for me. Lampard is so lazy it's almost unbelievable. His shooting is just criminal for a top player, too. I'm SURE that Barry, Carrick, Gerrard would have been better to start the game.

Crouch...... is simply the poorest target man in the air the world has ever seen. He may be tall, but he can't jump without flopping his arms everywhere and even the worst of centre-backs can fashion a free-kick out him.

Having said all this. McLaren had many key players out.....

He should have played ALL fringe players. Then he could have had a decent look at a group of players who are playing for their places... AND surely the press wouldn't have given him so much grief for that.

Lita still looks capable of scoring at will......

as soon as the 4-5-1 formation was announced I knew the game would be dismal. Lo and behold I was true, I gave up 15 minutes in as it just wasn't worth watching. Nobody seems interested in playing for their country any more, they are far more concerned with their clubs. Get rid of McCalren, and bring somone with the experience in, regardless of their nationality
