I know plenty of pleasant Scots as individuals, and had a good time with those around us at Twickenham this year, but why do so many of them have to persist in being so nastily anti-English? It just tends to provoke an equal and opposite reaction in me.
In fairness, you could swap Scotland for England throughout that statement and it would be equally true.

I really don't think thats the case. The Scots anti English sentiments are far stronger and more common than English anti Scottish ones IMHO. In fact i'd go so far as to say that most English are only pissed off at the Scots cos they blame us for everything and keep whingeing on about it.
Fair enough. As a Scot having lived and worked in England for four years, I do think it is the case - as I said, amongst a minority. I'd also say that your comment which I've put in bold represents exactly what I'm talking about. None of my group of friends (mid-30s, moderately professional) behave in the manner that you think typifies 'the Scots'.

beer indeed.

The only highlight for me was seeing how delighted the Italian fans were - almost worth losing in such a humiliating manner, just to see their reaction.

In the rugby:

1) England, I am English, so I guess thats a good reason.
2) Ireland, I support an english club team, London Irish, and I love guinness. drink
2) Italy, you got to love it when the underdog wins, e.g. at the weekend against scotland, And I sat between 2 Italian players between Rome and Paris on a plane, so I guess we bonded!

Football:

1) England
2) couldnt care much less!
