Just reading interview with Sir Viv Richards and it got me thinking. A bunch of English 'cricketers' got honours for finally winning a test series. I'm wondering why Waugh's team which set records for number of consecutive wins (16!) etc got bugger all AND, more importantly, where are the honours for Warne, McGrath, Waugh and others who have made slightly more contribution to the game than Collingwood, Pietersen et al.

I don't think convicted criminals or their descendants are eligible for honours paperbag

It's one of the few times I've agreed with Boycott - he said that his felt worthless after the whole England team got honours. He and Botham and many others have only really got theirs after continued service and outstanding cricket - usually at the end of their career. In some respects, it didn't help the England Rugby team all being given one after the RWC victory. However, at least that was the World Cup and not just a series win.

Won't make them better or worse. It will make some sense of the 'honours' system though and recognise their contribution to the sport and, in Waugh's case, to charitable causes too.
