Big difference between Gerrard and Lamps is if a game is not going well, Lamps will give you nothing. He is poor at tackling and needs a holding midfielder to win him ball and do the hard yards for him, hence he worked so well in last years Chealsea system.
Gerrard while still needing a decent holding player can grab a game by the scuff of the neck and help turn it around. See the other night as proof.
