Well I just like to say, "what a thoroughly entertaining game of soccer that was.
That Rooney character was truley blinding, we could have done with him on the Normandy beaches the way he just wanted to give it to them, take no prisoners or stick that's what I say.

To55er, he should be shot

McClaren owes Gerrard a few favours now but still needs to go. Took an injury to show that lumpy Lampard is not needed in the starting squad.

Honestly and the majority of xenophobic people in England wanted an English manager, they get one and then they can score only three goals against part timers.

Selecting
Defoe = Good
Nugent =Good
Downing = Good*

Dropping
Beckham = Bad
Lampard = Good**

Not picking
Pennant***

*Showed spirit but not a good touch
**through injury
***Very under rated ball crosser

Whatever people say about Beckham, I believe that next to Gerard he is one of the most passionate England players for years. Even if he's not on top of his game at least he tries. Lampard might play well at club level but he is shite playing for England.

Nugent should show Defoe better respect. The ball was halfway across the line when he decided to scud-missile it into the back of the net.

It was a poachers goal, he was where every good striker would have been.

It would have been in even if he hadn't touched it - but then again if it was my debut I'd have smashed it in as well thumbup

Not sure his debut warranted being picked again, then again not many performances last night warranted being picked ever again anyway.
The ball was almost fully over the line before Nugent kicked it and it was still moving so the speculation as to the sticking on the line is a moot point. Good on the lad though - a goal to the good on your debut is a good confidence boast and the ribbing he'll get from the lads will make up for the poaching anyway.

I thought nugent looked ok, got a way to go before he can be considered a regular, but good on him for smashing it in. At least hes over 5 foot unlike the rest of strikers we had last night. Hate to say it, but we miss Crouch.

TBH Rooney - 16 competitive games without a goal and is easy to wind up (as all international teams seem to be able to achieve). I'd put him on the bench. Give Nugent and Defoe a chance (that pairing sorted out the third goal last night hehe ) from the off.

Rooneys suspended for the next game, so maybe Defoe might get a start. Crouch will probably be back tho by then thumbup

Good on Nugent! Proper goalscorers goal laugh

Probably wont get a chance again so may as well take it, 1 international goal every 15 mins
