my cough is slowly improving but still not going to run hard or do big miles until it's gone so both yesterday and today a steady 5.5 miles, yesterday with a few fast strides here and there to stretch my legs a bit; that yielding a 7:30 average and today being 7:45 so hardly pushing me at all.

good news is i didn't end up as a coughing wreck afterwards hehe

90 minutes of 5 a side fottball on Friday has left me feeling pretty destroyed that and a stinking hangover so my training will resume tomorrow evening.

went to the aviva grand prix yesterday, things to note.... the mens 110m hurdles in london will be an epic battle between Liu Cheng vs Dayron Robles but the mens 100m will be even better, Clarke, Blake, Frater, Gay and that Bolt chap, i just cant see there being a Brit even in the final.... Jess Ennis is looking great (in every sense!), Robbie Grabarz was close to 2.39 in the high jump and Farah ran a 8.08 in the two miles but i dont think the short track and tight bends suited him

The pre olympic London diamond league event will be good as many of the top athletes are most likely going to use it as a test of UK conditions, the post olympic event in birmingham should be good too...

Knocked two and half minutes off one of my local circuits on my Sunday run today, actually felt a little like a proper runner for the first time in 15 years!

Ok, so this morning was rather surreal. I won a Facebook competition and did a 5k with Mo Farah up in North London! Was a small group of us doing it with him. AMAZING experience. Got to the last 700m and he kicked and everyone tried to hang onto him.. no chance!!!

Here i am with the main man himself!!

I can't really compete with that, but I completed the Singapore Urbanathlon, dodgy knee and all, in 1.26 something (14km, 9 obstacles, including running up and down a stadium!). I probably lost about 6 minutes queuing for obstacles/going for a piss so I'm pretty happy. Want to get 1.15 next year!

It was an amazing experience! Mo Farah is a proper idol of mine, so to get the chance to run with him was amazing!
He started off pretty slowly and we were running about 4:30 per/km. After about 3kms he picked up the pace slightly and from what i heard after, (i was too far behind) they came into the Emirates stadium with one final 700m lap left on about 16 minutes. Mo still chatting away not even phased with only a few top club runners managing to keep near him. HE kicked down and they all tried to go with him but by all accounts he left everyone by absolutely miles as you'd expect.
We then went for breakfast with him in the Emirates stadium and had a Q&A session for an hour or so.
Awesome experience! Gave everyone loads of useful tips and advice aswell.
Pushed me into a 5k PB also! i managed to do a 22:28, which isn't brilliant, but i was happy with it! smile

NickS - That is great and well done on your PB!

On my slow comeback to running, I ran 5.5 miles this morning in a leisurely 42:30 to the Olympic stadium in barcelona and back. That is 4 runs in a week for me and I am planning to have a jog out tomorrow night when I am back in Blighty for a couple of days.

I´ve been inspired recently by the thought of beating my marathon time and running a sub 1:15 half which is well within my capability

Brighton half yesterday - did 1.39.05, which was fine - still ten weeks until my marathon.

The course seemed very long though - my garmin showed 13.6 at the end, a lot of others seemed to be showing similar - there was a comment on the twitter site saying it was measured and correct but i'm thinking they must have had a lot of comments on it to post that.

The courses are measured and have certification. garmins are not accurate and you would also not have run the perfect line for the race unless you are in the first few runners. Well done on your time and all the best for the marathon

Oh no - I'm aware of the innacuracy, they are never spot on, this one just seemed an unusually long way out, I did presume it was just my watch on the way round - as I said, as they posted it on their twitter feed a lot of people must have mentioned it.

It seems they've now said the course was actually wrong - they've adjusted times 1.36.42, much happier with that.

16x200m this morning... despite a serious lack of enthusiasm I ground my way through it - on grass - and faster than I thought overall so mustn't grumble.

Had a "sports massage" on my troublesome foot/calf/thigh this morning as a follow on from the Osteo yesterday. Gonna be stiff tomorrow!

Today's schedule is 13 miles at 7 - 7:30 pace. Didn't go this morning and missed an opportunity at lunchtime so it looks like tonight now... really not feeling enthused. Anyone around WGC fancy joining me?!

Feeling really down today. According to my own diagnosis i've a feeling i'm staring with a stress fracture on my right femur. Will give it a few days rest and if it's still the same will book my self in at the docs. hopefully I'm wrong but this doesn't feel like muscle pain cry:

how old are you? stress fractures of the femur are rare.

does it only cause pain when doing activity? what about at rest? night?

Unlucky, but I share your pain.

I was diagnosed with a stress fracture (lower leg, not femur) on Tuesday. The doc listened to my history, took one look at my posture, said 'I bet it hurts when I press here' (he was right on that one, the bd) and told me what it was. Very disappointing. I find it really aches at night. Am planning to try a gentle run on grass in a few days to see how that goes, but it will certainly set back marathon training.
