Jeez. I just saw that. Sidebottom ahead of Onions and Tremlett?? Best of 3 for this season? He's a left armer which I guess adds variety but Jeez, he's hardly "Star Quality". To be honest I'd have rather they'd gone for that opther tyke, Darren Gough, if they are that desperate. One assumes that Jimmy Anderson will play anyway and Sidearse will go back to Notts on Fri morn?

Well done Michael Vaughan! 100 on his return; that's why he's straignt back in the side.

Against this attack? No more than a net. 5 centuries in the last too.

I always said he was an inspired choice. biggrin

Great effort from him. He bowled very well and deserves all the accolades he gets and will not deserve to be dropped for the next test when Hoggard and Flintoff are back. (As he will be).

When it happens and it will it will signify a magnificent return to form by the selectors, something to bring a smile of contentment to the faces of all true supporters of the soap dodgershehe

Hats off to Sidebottom. He bowled controlled outswing in great, overcast conditions agaisnt a team of cavalier stroke players. Good return, but hardly stiff opposition.

You could be right, cos I seem to recall that our Saviour was left out of the Holy XI for a few years between tests as well. scratchchin

Windies have picked Fidel Edwards which I'm please about. I enjoy watching him and he's genuinely quick. Shame Tino Best imploded because they had the makings of a good partnership a few years ago and I think the Windies could use a player with Tinos fire.

Rained off. frown

I heard a great story from Tony Cozier on the radio during the last test.

During a previous WI series ago Michael Holding was commentating on the Old Trafford test. Despite having played in the Lancashire league and for Lancashire he couldnt remember the way to the ground from the hotel on the first morning. He was just about to go back into the lobby to ask directions when he saw Graeme Hick getting into his car (the England team were using the same hotel). Mikey decided he would follow Hicky to the ground so he jumped back into his car and followed him out of the gate. He got some miles down the M6 before the penny dropped and he realised that Hicky had been released and was rushing back to Worcester so that he could play that day! hehe
