I would say Lesnar's strength advantage was a huge part of his victory, and his gameplan. He was stronger than Mir. And Mir says that usually in the gym he is the strongest one. He dropped 20 lbs from the summer. It might have been training related.
Lesnar weight 276 for his Couture fight I think. Would have mean a 30lb weight difference with Mir if the same.

Wow. Just watched the Lesnar interview...multiple colonoscopies...cryvomit
Wonder if it was his supreme fitness that helped his miraculous recovery?
Funny to think that even after losing 40lbs he would be bigger than most heavys.
Also, as has bene mentioned on this thread, he post interview pundits said it was indeed possible that Lesnar had this sickness when he faced Mir.

Also interesting to see if steroids have an effect on these athletes long term. Wrestlers have a few high profile deaths a year. Wonder if we will see steroidgenetically inherited complications/deaths in the years to come when more of these professional MMAers enter their 40s and 50s?

A tonne of wrestlers die from overdoses, but there are enough heart attacks to give us a big name every now and then. Bulldog, Rude, Albright, Pillman, Yoko, Hawk, Guerrero, Umaga, Bossman, Hercules, Radford etc.

I wonder what will become of Hogan and Triple H?

Just watched Miami. Bobby looks big for 252lbs, he must be cycling rightbiggrin Sims, he didn't reallt impress in TUF10, but then he did take this at extreme shot notice.
The Lawlor fight was fun, and the Hershel thing was just boring. I enjoyed his spragg and grappling at the start, but he didn't have owt else.
Diaz is just on the button professional.

Possibly Lesnar's current serious condition has made people think it was inappropriate.

all those guys get in there following a script and at no point are they going in there in the knowledge that the other guy is going to try and take their heads off for real.
I respectfully disagree. Not all get in there with a 'script', in today's current climate that might be true of some promotions (deffo yes for the NAZI like WWE) but in the indies, impro is still an acquired skill. In the olden days there would be chosen spots to call, but a lot of it was 'on the hoof'. And if you look at the US wrestling before the 80s the territory regime meant that everyone was an enemy, no wrestler was your 'friend', doublecrosses go on and people would either 'work' with you, meaning the match went to finish as planned, or they would 'go into business' for themselves, which meant frak you they would do as they wish. This still sometimes goes on, and it was the hard as nails guys or the proficient shoot wrestlers who had the ability to do this. This is not even getting into the situation of working with a fella you could trust but who worked heavy (like they do in Japan) or who was as clumsy as fk. Its a sad day when a fit young man walks into the ring and then cannot walk out because he is paralysed for life (ala Joe Thurman and many others). Anyone who thinks that wrestlers don't have balls knows very very little aboot wrestling.

There is a pretty good thread on sherdog aboot 'shoots' in the ring and backstage fights. It also has a rollcall of the hardmen and technical fighters (like Billy Robinson) of wrestling. It's in the wasteland if you take a look;)

Thoughts;
Shooting star press was nasty, but credit to him for the finish.
Lesnar is like an business man (typical PHer), he is looking out for himself, and the WWE is not a charity, they are one of the nastiest companies to work for.
Mir-Carwin...I have no idea who will win...and I can't wait to see it!!!

Xitup, maybe you do, BUT, if you notice i said "most" not all.
The guy is a talent though, if he won always just because of his size and strength then every linebacker in the NFL would be a MMA heavyweight title contender and every strongman in the world would be. He has more to him than size therfore he has talent.
Anyway this debate could go on forever, everyone has there own opinion.
True, he has talent, but it's not as big a factor as his size and strength.

Heath has always had trouble with big wrestlers.
Mir has great jizz and pretty good striking!!
He had trouble with Randy who is over a decade older than him and 60lb smaller.

How many of those fights would he have won if they were all the same size? Who knows, but it's why I'm interested in seeing him fight someone closer in size to him.
yikes
