This is a disaster for the UFC and MMA as a sport, its one thing hyping a fight and trash talking, that's part of all combat sports and American culture but unrestrained thuggery shows the sport to be the worst of what detractors and mass culture think it to be.

Boxing in the US has never really recovered from Tyson biting Hollyfields ear off, this is a similar drawing back of the curtain and the reprocussions will be felt for years.

There's no excuse or reasoning he should be stripped and serve a healthy ban.

That said extraordinary display of the ground game from Khabib and I'm a bit disappointed Conor tapped, it wasn't on his neck and although it must have been very painful I don't think he should have tapped from there.
I really hope they are able to with-hold the payout to the fighters due to their behaviour.

Conor has been paid, Khabib hasn't or hadn't at the time of Dana's interview at about 9am UK time.

I imagine that White will be itching for an excuse to strip Khabib of the title, just so that he can keep his McGregor cash-cow going.

I think trying to pretend COnor is still a champ after this defeat would help end the cashcow quick, and not in Dana'a favour.

That would be awesome. That stunt does not deserve a victory.

You realise conor wasn't a champ before this fight and hadn't fought for the UFC for two years?

I’ve watched various videos of it all but I can’t see if khabib actually hit/smashed/assaulted anyone outside of the octagon. It seemed to have been split up before khabib got his hands on anyone. Someone else punched that blonde dude though.

If that’s the case then what can/will the authorities do?

But he's still their biggest cash cow, active or not. He's carried that sport - and his legion of imbecile drunk fans - for the last few years.

Dillon Danis gives off the impression he's a grub and worse a grub without the ability or "charm" of Conor. Spends his day appearing to arselick Conor and taking pride in generally being obnoxious on his instagram feed recently boasting how they were 'going to spark this backward c*unt out cold".

Khabib went far too far and his team mate was clearly out of order and it could have been much worse outside the octagon but Conor has flamed the situation completely bringing in race, religion and Family into the pre match trash talk. Conor also appeared to throw the first one when climbed on top of the cage so is hardly blameless.

Has there been any post fight interview with McGreggor yet? Am looking forward to seeing if he admits defeat or comes up with some excuse instead? I'm not an avid watcher of MMA but he looked outclassed by Khabib to me.

Not as far as I know. I have seen 2 twitter comments from him saying “he’ll be back” and “ That was a good knock, can’t wait for the rematch.”

I don’t see as he deserves a rematch as he was pretty much dominated from start to finish. His best punches were thrown after the bell!laugh Being who he is though I’m sure he will get it.

I want to see mcgregor vs tony Ferguson next. I think he will be obliterated.

I think its the intention that really matters. Khabib did a great job of holding his nerve and biting his tongue in the face of some very unpleasant provocation before the fight but what he did is just not acceptable. At an amateur show or the biggest stage of the sport no one can be seen to bring the sport into disrupute like that and get away with it.

I hate to sound pompous and Conor should shoulder some of the blame but anyone who's been to an MMA show, or big boxing night will know how febrile the atmosphere can be, he's pretty lucky he didn't start a full blown riot What Khabib did was terrible for the sport. What the UFC is doing is terrible for the sport.

I'd say he shut up pretty quickly.

Khabib took Conor's punches and asked for more. Khabib won three to es tonight

He won on the ground, he won on his feet and he shut Conor the fk up. My happiest sporting memory

Why? Because this was much more than a UFC victory. Conor is looked up to by kids, adolescents and adults alike. His behaviour has been atrocious. Inciting racial tension, insulting khabib's family, offering booze to someone he knows is Muslim and other things. Khabib showed the world how you should behave

The events after the fight were not good. However, no worse than Conor did at the coach. Khabib and all his boys should get no more sanction than Conor. Otherwise it stinks of white privilege.

Will Conor exercise his rematch clause? Lol. Absolutely not
White privilege? In what way when both are white?

My view for what its worth -

Conor was well beaten in the ring which is no great surprise, Khabibs take down game is strong.

Khabib has clearly taken everything said to heart whilst not realising that all of Conors trash talk is what brings in all the crowds and PPV figures which would mean Khabib is/was due a bumper pay day. (UFC 223 - Khabib earnt £530k before PPV, UFC 229 he was set to earn £2m before PPV)

Khabib and Dillon Danis are mouthing off at each other so Khabib jumps the ring, jumps at Dillon, Dillon puts Khabib on is ass and then they are swarmed, 6 or 7 of Khabibs men have run in and 2 of whom hit Dillon and an unspecified number of police and security are assaulted by Khabibs men.

In the meantime, Conor has tried following Khabib over the ring and is stopped by security, Khabibs cousin attempts to get over the ring to help Khabib, isn't stopped by security so Conor has swung first. They are both then pulled off the top.

Black top and Red trousers have now jumped into the ring, Black top swings and misses at Conor, Conor hits him, red trousers hits him 3 times from behind, Conor backs up so those 2 are in front of him and whilst security deal with them, Khabibs cousin tries attacking Conor again.

Cue DC, Rockhold and the security finally getting a hold of the situation.

In relation to Khabib having a cry because Conor said some words to him, If you are associated with a Chechen Warlord who likes to imprison Gays for...being gay, then you need to be ready to have it used against you.

Moving forward - I can see Khabib getting a ban, probably dictated by NSAC who clearly are taking it seriously as they are still withholding his purse.

The closest incidents we have to compare are:

Mike Tyson - 3m fine and a revoked his boxing licence
Jon Jones and DC - 10% fine
Conor and Nate Diaz - 25k/15k fine and 25 hours community service
Jake shield and Jason Miller - 3 month suspension

I would be expecting a 9-12 month ban as Khabib has form in Vegas - Him and Diaz got into a fight that spilled out onto the vegas strip. but NSAC couldnt do anything at the time as they weren't currently licensed by them.

I understand that one of the guys who attacked Conor in the ring was a contracted UFC fighter and has been banned for life.
