I would put money on prime Fedor over Stipe. Although I would actually pick DC over Fedor. Styles make fights etc.

DC's most surprising victory for me was Josh Barnett. I never would have thought he'd beat him.

I would put prime fedor over anyone. That mans capacity to absorb punishment whilst processing data on how to overcome his opponent , and then retaining the physical and mental strength to do so is unmatched. An incredible once in a lifetime combatant.

Fedor is the HW GOAT no question. But I think prime DC takes prime Fedor in UFC rules six, maybe seven times out of 10. Fedor never faced someone with DC’s wrestling and who can match him on speed, power and technique. Kevin Randleman came close and Randleman was nowhere near DC’s level. Fedor’s style suited the PRIDE ring and he never had to deal with being pushed up against the cage in the clinch.

Come to think of it, I fancied Couture against Fedor if that fight would have taken place in the octagon. Shame we never saw it materialise.

Good points. Many dont seem to realise that the ring v the cage almost make the sport two different ones. Yes, under UFC rules, DC may well have had a chance, but sadly, we only got to see an old, nowhere near peak Fedor in the cage so don't know how his fighters instinct might have allowed his younger self to adapt. His judo and sambo background may have made him difficult to pin against the cage and more elusive with his back to it than you think? Sadly, we will never know,. Always great to have these what if conversations though!!

If I were DFW and Shelby I would be doing everything I could to book Stipe vs Jon Jones. N'Gannou and Rozenstruik aren't well-rounded enough to be top-level threats and Jones has cleaned out LHW. This along with Khabib vs GSP are the most exciting fights available to the UFC right now.

I think he'd struggle to put up with the power some of the HW guys have and physically isn't a natural HW.

It'll be interesting to see how he looks with the extra weight on in a fight, his walk around weight is apparently around 230lbs, which is the same as what Miocic weighed in at for his last fight. He'll also have a reach advantage against most (if not all) of his potential opponents I believe.

Jones would have to pack on some muscle to compete with the HWs on power, but he has the frame for it. His armspan is 84.5 inches, compared with Stipe at 80 inches. N'Gannou and Lesnar whom most people describe as physical specimens both have shorter reach than Jones.

Jones has the same arm span as 6'11" Stefan Struve. Only one fighter in UFC history (6'8" Dan Christison) has been measured with a longer reach.

One of the most naturally gifted athletes in their chosen sport that has dominated a weak division by holding opponents against the fence and stamping on their toes for 5 entire rounds whilst displaying zero sportsmanship and an appalling lack of discipline throughout his career.

The greatest fighters constantly seek out new challenges, they risk moving weight class to test themselves. Jones is a lazy coward that knows he will get destroyed at HW.

That's a tad disingenuous. He's done some good eye poking too.

I won't drop a spoiler in case some are waiting to watch it, but Overeem fight last night was a gruelling, brutal affair.
