Ngannou or Gane guys? I think I've seen enough of Ngannou to know a mobile, powerful, well conditioned fighter is his worst nightmare, but Francis has POWER. I think Gane within three....
Further proof I'm not an MMA expert...although I doubt many saw that method of victory.....Edited by biggbn on Sunday 23 January 08:21
Was Moreno robbed? No, but he wasn't decisively beaten. That fight could have gone another way has the judges been sitting 6 inches to the left, had an extra mouthful of coffee or if Mercury wasn't in retrograde (whatever that means, I don't know, I just hear it being mentioned by women every now and again). Figgy is a machine and had the bigger moments of the night, a deserved win but the quadrilogy has to be made.
Surprised by Ngannou, who thought he'd have take-downs in his repertoire?? He didn't really know what to do on the ground though, which is lucky for Gane because Gane looked confused at being ragdolled around like a lightweight as his gameplan went right out the window. Unable to make the adjustments, his previously nuanced fight game looked one-dimensional while big Francis looked like a worthy champion.
Further down the card, phenomenal displays from Frevola, Jack Della Maddalena, Victor Henry, Said Nurmagomedov and Michael Morales.
Dishonourable mention to Mike Beltran, that was a stinking stoppage, but all in all, a great night!

Bones comes in and cleans up HW. He’s far too dynamic for these big lumps.
Does anyone care about JBJ these days? I don't think he's going to walk straight into a title fight anymore. If he'd got his finger out of his arse and been less controversial outside the octagon then maybe, but it feels like no-one wants him around. Yeah, he's got a good claim on GOAT status but that's overshadowed by PED pops. I don't know, maybe he will, maybe he won't, but either way, no-one cares.

Shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a UFC show, disgrace of a human being unless he has really changed things around. Yeah, he's got a good claim on GOAT status but that's overshadowed by PED pops. I don't know, maybe he will, maybe he won't, but either way, no-one cares.
The heavyweights looked like they were moving in slow-motion for most of the bout. Francis obviously was recovering from some big injuries but was amusing to watch him overpower Ciryl. Once Francis had ground control he was very inactive and didn't do a great deal. Other fighters get stood up much sooner and people complain that you can't win a fight by just lying on top of someone.
Gane was pretty disappointing considering all the speed and striking abilities which he was meant to bring to the table. After the first few rounds, Francis looked pretty tired - it should have been the time to capitalise but Gane didn't and ended up on his back. I was surprised that one judge scored the bout 49-46 to Francis, I don't see that Francis ever won 4 rounds in that fight.

Was more an observation on my part that he wins against both those.

Decent card this weekend without any huge names.
What a finish to the main event! it was like a cartoon knockout
Was a good card and some good finishes, I haven't seen someone stiffen up like that for a while What a finish to the main event! it was like a cartoon knockout
Not sure about JW, big fan but he has gaping holes in his defence
When Walker first showed up, I thought he could go all the way, but as you say, he gets slack and leaves himself open.
Tai is one of my favourite fighters. Always fights fire with fire (sometimes unsuccessfully) and it was good to see him getting back to using those hurtful elbows in the close stuff.
