Can't see Price beating Haye.
Unless he changes his style to the way he fought Harrison he'll be a sucker for the Haye superfast uppercuts & body shots.

It might be he was a bit to confident with Harrison in front of him, but as he is stalking him, to me, he looks like an Ali impersination of Formean as the Mummy. Sorry I know he is a prospect but his head is really high, no movement at all & his movement(wooden) looks tailor made for Haye to make a load of money. There lies the problem, Haye seems to have delusions of grandeur where he seems to think he is some kind of superstar Tyson,Ali, Roy Jones,Mayweather where he can command a certain purse. The reality is he was very good coming up through the ranks then beat a 7' flabby statue Valuev & then lost to a so so Klitchko performance.boxedin
Not really sure where you're going with the delusions of grandeur line...Haye has always recognised he'll never be considered a Heavyweight great like Lennox Lewis. However, he is one of the most exciting Heavyweight in the post Lewis/Tyson/(prime) Holyfield era due to a combination of his speed, athleticism, punch power, aggression, vulnerability, charisma, looks and his ability to generate hype. And in a time where very few Heavyweight are able to deliver both inside AND outside the ring (at least from a 'western' perspective), he is box-office. The size of purse he commands isn't delusional either; he was one half of the biggest Heavyweight fight since Lennox retired and is even able to fill a football stadium when there's little more at stake than settling a bit of bad blood...

Regarding the Price 'style', I'm not sure how much can be concluded from 2mins of action...other than if he hits clean, Price has the potential to knock out anyone...
pricey is fighting more like wladimir these days.he openly admits he is trying to emulate that style of measuring everything up behind the jab.
now think about how haye's style worked out against wlad.....

.....i'm not saying price is as good as wlad but what i do know is that price turned pro under hayemaker and used to spar haye extensively(they remain pals to this day) and that in those spars david "new to the pro game" price always managed to go even stevens with david "ive had 30 odd fights, been world cruiserweight champ and will become a heavyweight champ imminently" haye.

all i can say is that price is a much more accomplished fighter now than he was a few years ago.

I was a bit shocked at the venue and crowd for James De Gales fight, looks like the sort of room and atmosphere that County championship amature events were held at in the early 90s when I was a school boy, seedy. When I think back to some of the big European Title fights of days gone by...

He looked good for about 4 rounds and then I thought it was pretty neck and neck, he soaked up the pressure well but against a stronger hitter I think he'd get found out or risk loosing on points again.

He's undoubted talent, brilliant to watch a switch hitter with such skill but the look of his body ( I should talk!) and the way he ran out of steam tells me he's not putting in the same amount of effort down the gym as the top guys and I'm not sure he's ever going to climb up the ladder to get world title shot.

I suspect he's found his level, opponent and billing/venue wise.

With Atilla Jim as his trainer I honestly don't see how he isn't training hard or isn't fit enough, though maybe they should devote more to out and out strength development rather than the circuits (and attrition) Jim seems to favour? He'll be plenty fit enough, he just doesn't have the power to dissuade or sap a tougher or high level opponent.

He often punches very quickly in combinations when/because they are mainly arm punches and he still doesn't always punch 'correctly' but slaps and cuffs a bit too much. That ought to have been drilled out of him by now.

He also crowded his work too much - when he let go some of the longer shots, especially to the body some suggested he had developed a dig but all too often he tried to punch from off the ropes and rarely got much leverage in except for couple of nice, well timed sneaky hooks. He ought to have used that tactic more often.

I don't think he'll hit world champion level because he's just not good enough, at the pro level his style and attributes aren't enough without a bit more firepower imho, and squeaking points wins over 12 rounds too often is going to limit the audience

I scored the first 3 for James.

Every other round I found very difficult to score as he only fought for 30 secs of each round. Okay that 30 secs was good, but it does put you off wanting to give him the round.

i honestly felt he won by 4 or 5 rounds but his workrate and punch output were awful for a european champion.the opponent was ste, just plodding at him but i suppose i have to cut him a bit of slack as he was very rusty.his combinations were lovely but lacking in spite for sure.i think he will build on this performance though.

Tyson Fury had a pre prepared little faux rant on Ch5 between rounds in the De Gale fight, he looked a bit of a twonker to be honest, made lots of mentions of Price being a plumber - Fury's background mostly involves removal of copper piping rather than installing it.

I'll be very suprised if Fury actually ever takes that fight, Price says money is on the table and they are waiting for Fury, so it should be straight forward to arrange !?! (Not)

Worst thing is. I'll pay to watch this fight if it happens.

It's a shame because I think he really looked up for the job this time. He got in great shape and when he got in the ring I thought he looked very purposeful and dare I say it, dangerous. Well, until he got thumped anyway.

i think people are only starting to see how powerful price is.the size of him in reallife is astonishing and to see the power unloaded on the heavybag is frightening, it really is.it'sthe speed as much as the power.stuff that big shouldn't move that fast.

i think the crowd were out of order goading harison even as he left the arena and i actually felt really sorry for the guy.but then i remembered that he's a big boy and got into all this of his own accord.he would have done the same to pricey given the chance and i'm sure he can console himself living out of the spotlight in his LA palace with his millions in the bank

According to Sky Sports, Geogre Groves will be fighting in December against Glen Johnson. Truth be told, I'm a little unhappy about that...I've got a lot of respect for Johnson and don't really want to see him coming out of a well-earned retirement to take on a young, fit, fast, heavy-handed fighter like Groves.

That said, echoing the words above, Johnson is a big boy and will be in there of his own choosing...

On a more positive note, it looks like Evander Holyfield has finally decided to retire. Thank fcensoredk for that but, man, what a fighter he was in his prime! A good selection of his best fights picked out in this article...
