I'm going to the FOS for the first time this year and I'm now buying tickets. Do I need to go for the general admission or would you also buy access to the grandstand?

For your first time you won't have time to stop and sit in a grandstand.

I'd get a grandstand seat. If its packed the kids won't see much on the hill climb. Also its a good place to get out of the sun or rest your legs.

i had grandstand tickets a few times and didnt really take the use out of them, they would very good if you are the sort of person who can sit for a few hours and watch the action.

it is a good idea to get grandstand tickets for the sunday if only to watch the shootout

Happy Valentine day

I've got 2 spare Sunday entrance tickets - happy for £60 each and 2 Sunday grandstands £48 each. So small savings against face cost

Thanks for all the replies! I decided to take the tickets for the grandstand for 1 day because we'll bring our old man and they need to rest once in a while wink

I am thinking of going to the FOS this year, it'll be my first time so I was hoping for some advice.

We are thinking of just going for one day, probably either the saturday or sunday, is there any real difference between the 2 days?

I'll probably be driving from Kent(~2 hour drive), will I need to leave at stupid-o'clock to avoid ridiculous queues?

Any advice for a first-time visitor welcome!

Cheers smile

Aim to arrive between 7-8 to avoid traffic and make the most of your day. Sunday has the top 20 shootout.

Does that also mean it's the busiest day?

I guess I'll have to have an early start then!

They are all "the busiest day" the event is a sell out Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

i'd say from 3-4pm onwards on sundays its less busy at the same time than on the saturday... as people start to leave if they are travelling a long way...

but everyday is rammed normally....

I was a first timer last year and did Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I preferred Saturday to Sunday - as the crowd was fractionally smaller. Mind you, I'm down for all three days again this year. You can't go wrong on any day.

saturday or sunday either way, you will only just scratch the surface. i went on the thursday for the first time last year and i found it great for getting a bit of peace to see round a bit more.

first person i see to reveal his invite is buttsy butler, he is taking his drift car and his f1 car.
has anyone heard who else has been invited

<<-- FOS Virgin...couple questions...

1. Those that have been on the Sunday, are there normally events which run until closing time? I have full weekend tickets, I'll be taking train back to London that night. Wondering if it's madness getting to the station at closing time? Leave earlier, stay later?

2. I haven't shipped my car over from the States yet frown and it seems like the shuttle is just easier rather than renting a car and queuing. Thoughts? We would definitely get there at 0h-dark-thirty regardless even if that means walking before the shuttles run.

3. Storage lockers available?

Cheers!
