The one you look at there is Graeme Wight, 42.9

He would easily have beaten the record later on.

Shame he was not asked back, I wonder why!

Yet it's fine for a money no object VW milk float to be asked back again and again!

You make it sound like they've been doing it for years. It's only the 2nd time.

Well, Wight was never asked back. That is my point.

I'm a bit surprised that Scott Moran has never been invited, 6 times British hill climb champion, I reckon he could put up a very good time in his Gould GR61X

Agreed, he ad Trevor Willis.

That BMW with the Judd in it was the late Georg Plasa's car, now run by the guy who I think owns KW.

But if you had Christian Merli and Simone Faggioli with perhaps a couple of the top French guys over I am sure they would have a good crack at the record.

Wight got that close in a V6 engined home built car, not long after he dropped a V10 in it and would surely have smashed it.

Merli would be amazing through the flint wall I can guarantee, but this weekend both were racing in italy, Trento Bondone.

I can imagine the big power of Wallace Menzies' ex-Indy powered Gould going well at the FOS and he is not one to hold back either.
I'm also surprised that Faggioli has never had a showing, or maybe he has but had conflicting events. He is a true legend of hill climbing and the screaming Zytek engined Norma would be sensational to watch.
Its a shame the V10 Predator of GW Jr never reached it's potential, ongoing gearbox issues eventually saw to it's demise.

Goodwood to be fair try to keep the line up as varied as possible. I think it would take a brave person to alienate major manufacturers so you can understand why VW keep getting the invite and get to try for the record as opposed to small specialist hill climb outfits

It’s a hill climb though, doesn’t seem right that the fastest hill climb cars and drivers in the UK don’t get a shot at the title... surely the bigger story would be “amateur driver in car built by man in Yorkshire” beats money no object VW....
