First time at the FOS, how long/when to go?

As per the title I am planning to attend the festival (and Goodwood) for the first time this year. I'm not sure how long I should go for? Time off is not an issue, so is it worth getting there Thursday and leaving Sunday?

What are the days I can't afford to miss?

I worked there a couple of years and have never been as a punter, I was there a day before it opened, stayed on site the whole time so could wander about after everyone had gone and didnt leave until the day after it finished and still didnt see everything so my advice would be to go for as long as you can!

if you can do this then do so... you won't get bored / regret it...

go for the 4 days if you can.
theres a lot to see and do .
accommodation is the biggest problem, the closer you can get to good wood the better.
