As has been mentioned before bag checks now at every entrance to FoS. I've just arrived on the 'quietest' day and if you have a bag, BIG queue. If you don't you are getting waved through to the front.

I know it's impossible for a lot of people but if you can live without a rucksack, pack light.

Are they searching all bags (ie women's handbags as well) or just backpacks?

As far as I could tell it depends on the size of the bag.

As I mentioned, pack as light as you can.

Would be interesting to get an idea of how small a bag will get waved through.

I was planning on a rucksack but could get away with a very small camera bag (small handbag size).

If that's going to get checked anyway I may as well not compromise what I can carry with me and take the rucksack. I'll be there by 6:30am but usually a good sized queue at that time anyway.

Oddly they are not checking if the people going through the no bags lane have bags. The woman in front of me with a bag on her back just walked straight through and no-one even looked at her.

I was over an hour in the bag search queue this morning. Folding chair was patted down too. Will leave behind tomorrow and put snacks in pocket.

What time did you arrive?

I'm slinging my cameras over my neck and stuffing my pockets tomorrow!

About ,0830 and that was gate 1, usually a quiet gate. However a bus had just arrived and delivered a load of people.

Funniest thing I saw today was one of the Security Minions making a couple of lads queue for a bag search. The only bags they had were the FoS ones they'd just bought with programmes in them

I arrived at about 07:30 at the entrance just next to the motor show area and queued for about 45 minutes to get in whilst watching loads of people with bags simply walk straight through the no bag line... When I finally got to the search area, where the army of 4 searchers were fighting a losing battle against the tide of punters the search was so cursory I could have smuggled in half a kilo of Semtex.
Apparently, a little later, it got so bad that they abandoned the whole thing.
It'll be interesting to see what they bother doing tomorrow. I certainly won't be bringing another bag.
This had nothing to do with safety and everything to do with Goodwood ticking boxes in order to appease their insurers.

I was near the front of the queue when the gates opened, so they were still quite zealous... -ish

Security bloke: "Got anyting in your camera bag, chap?"

Me (deciding to ignore that some people paying good money might object to being called "chap" by a flunkie): "Yes. A camera."

Security bloke: "Ahh, sweet"

Me: "Do you want to check it?"

Security Bloke: "Nahh, 's all good, bra'a"

The Lord Harry alone knows what Tarquin with the maroon trousers made of being addressed thusly hehe

As someone who knows a proper security check when he sees one I have to say today's was cursory at best. I don't really mind how a security detail (obviously minions to some and no forlock tugged or bow made offends) addresses me but would prefer a proper check or no check. Rest of the day really good and process of arrival/exit easy and pleasurable

Car Park A entrance, 3 people in non-bag entrance, everyone else lined up around the corner. Highly recommend stuffing your pockets if you can!

Parked in car park M this morning, was there for gates opening. I reckon bag check cost me the horrifyingly lengthy two minutes.

Car Park A at 7.15 - bag checkers were busy with others, was waved in with no check. Don't bother packing light.
