I'm going for warmth over style having been caught out before and having to buy one of Lord March's expensive jumpers. And still being fking cold ...

Revival is a different issue; is usually too warm then .

I was looking forward to the 300mile trip from home , top down in spring sunshine in the MX5 . I think I will be travelling down in my winter tyred 4x4 Yeti instead , especially as it is home to my wind and weather proof winter fishing clothing...Can I recommend Aigle neoprene lined wellies too - they are reassuringly expensive , and so are in keeping with Goodwood's recreation of Brooklands ' 'right crowd.and no crowding ' ethos ....

My Sunday snow forecast has now changed to cold, dry, and windy.

9am has a forecasted temperature of 1 degree, with a 'feels like' temperature of -7.

I find my Aigle neoprene wellies too warm to wear if walking far. Great for standing around in though! Although I’m sure the only wellies acceptable at Goodwood are Le Chameau?

I would have thought that leather Hunters or Dubarry would be okay from the horse racing side??

I shall be there in my Aigle Neoprenes too, should we arrange a meet for like minded people biggrin

Discovery with winter tyres for me, the FF will be staying at home frown

rofl I think I may resort to my walking boots but hopefully that won’t stop me from attending the Aigle owners club meet up.

I remember one year spotting Gordon Murray’s McLaren F1 in the field of members meeting I’m guessing it was dry in the run up to the event.

Perhaps Goodwood can introduce inter-house snowman building alongside the other off-track activity - or even on track if it is bad enough!

Yes, from experience, Goodwood is a very exposed place on a cold day. Ski kit and thermal wellies sound the order of the day. Amazing to think it was shirt sleeves, raybans, and deckchairs for the very first Members Meeting.

Whilst they no doubt have weather insurance, it will have a very high excess, so they are only likely to cancel at very late notice. But you cannot surely race when there is sleet/snow on the track.

Will be ‘interesting’ getting my Pantera there on Sunday for the Members Parade.

Not that it stopped me before driving

I absolutely bloody love your car and I will be doing my very best to locate you on Saturday if only to pretend for 5(probably 20 minutes).

Don't pretend. I love to share my car with people. There are so few of them in the UK, and they are an icon to many people of all ages.

I will be driving straight onto circuit at about 7.45am, and then at 8.30/45am, they will be parking us in the carpark (a reserved area, one assumes at the front) behind Woodcote corner, across the road.

That's probably the best time to come say hi and have a good look. But it will be parked there all day anyway, and I tend to leave the event about 30-60 minutes after the last race having mooched about the pits one last time.

PM me if you want my mobile details but will only be with the car then, and when I leave. Would be a pleasure to show you.

This is from Alan at GRRC in case anyone hasn’t seen this:

GRRC said:
Hello all,

Regarding the fields for this weekend's event, they tend to drain and repair after each event very well. And for this year’s event, there has been further remedial works carried out to the entrance ways to the fields, and further additional metal trackway ordered and put down in the main access ways through the fields.

That being said, the weather has been cooler and wetter than some other years, and ultimately for an event at this time of year with parking on grass, we would advise you to air on the side of practicality in terms of vehicle and footwear.

With all of this, it does largely depend on weather on the days of the event itself, but it’s amazing how much a couple of dry, windy days can help (like we’ve had today). Additionally, the colder the weather the harder the ground – so it can work both ways.

So overall, it’s looking okay at the moment, and provisions are in place, but ultimately, we are somewhat in mother nature’s hands as to the weather over the next couple of days and into the event itself. But needless to say the Event Operations team are doing their best with final plans, and a series of measures they can put into place over the weekend given different scenarios.

On a separate note, when you enter the car parks, it may look like there are huge vast expanses of immaculate grass with queues along the trackway or other areas. In this instance, please follow the marshal’s guidance and remain in line and do not be tempted to take to the inviting untouched grass as a shortcut to get to wear people are parking up. In wet weather, we deliberately open up more field space than for dry events, and strategically leave empty patches each day in order to rotate the areas through the event – thus preserving the widest space. This plan only works if those areas are left and allowed to rest, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could all help each other out with this and respect the marshal’s guidance – there is sometimes a broader plan than there first appears.

We’re really looking forward to a great event with packed grids of racing and demonstration batches, and do please all feel free to come and say hello to the team in the Great Hall

Many thanks,

Alan
So avoid the fresh grass unless directed so we can all park ok on Sunday!

Your forecast is different to mine then. Light snow all day Saturday switching to heavy from 11pm Saturday until 3am Sunday.

Lovely today and Monday though. Typical.

Tut, tut. You would expect better from the GRRC.
