Going tomorrow as my first FoS any tips for newbie? I know weather will be hot so will take a bottle to refil but any good locations to go for photos or best spots for the hill climb?
Get there early, go straight to the paddock before it gets too busy. It’s bloody marvellous!Bobtherallyfan said:
Absolute dust bowl today. Our car looks like a refugee from the Paris Dakar rally
Yep normal parking was a nightmare, our T5 campervan was covered. Felt sorry for all the special cars that started off lovely and shiny. Also sad to see a modern red Ferrari California with the back smashed in by a small van on the way in this morning.

Don’t forget a coat. Thunderstorms are forecast with heavy showers at times although location could be anywhere. We had a small shower today lasting about 30-40min. Comparing last year to this year it felt like basically more of the same but less. Like going back to the same show a week later after a bit of a reshuffle with a few bits of new stock and when a few big exhibitors have left.
Always interesting to see the cars and some of the people but the event as a whole felt a little disappointing. Maybe it works better done every few years.
Not sure what was up with the PA; mostly inaudible.
I'd have been more annoyed if I was actually paying.
Vloggers were still annoying as are social media 'influencers' with 3 hangers on each taking 100 photos of their watch and getting in the way while doing so. The 'society event' types are best avoided too especially after they've hit the drinks.

I went the first year - 25 years ago! - and have gone most years this century, the last 7 years on the trot. I'd agree with your first two paragraphs.Always interesting to see the cars and some of the people but the event as a whole felt a little disappointing. Maybe it works better done every few years.

It was good, but not quite as good as last year, which is what I said last year.

I would have agreed last year but my friends and I actually thought this year was a little better. Its not as "good" as it was several years ago but that is a price worth paying if it remains commercially viable so it can continue. It was good, but not quite as good as last year, which is what I said last year.
