Mentioned in a earlier thread however this deserves its own topic -

The RAF Typhoon display team have confirmed that the displays scheduled for the FoS on 12th & 13th have been cancelled by the event organiser.

As per normal Goodwood are burying the news, no mention on their twitter feed or the website.

I have not felt this level of aviation related disappointment since the Vulcan was a no show at the revival to be replaced on the programme by Charlie boys cousin performing a tortured rendition of 'Jerusalem '.

Speculation that its due to complaints from locals, but apart for some misery's in Boxgrove generally its accepted around here, and a 10 minute display is less disruptive than the racket we get from '3 Friday Nights' or fireworks late at night on random days.

The Typoon is an awesome sight and one of the highlights of the air display.

A shame they’ve cancelled it.

I've heard a different reason, but I am not going to say for fear of spoiling things about the event.

You’ll not spoil anything, it will be public early next week.
Tell now and you’ll seem amazing

With RIAT happening the same weekend there is huge scope for anything display certified attending that to pop down for a display or fly past. Considering there are upwards of 350 aircraft confirmed for RIAT that doesn't really narrow things down though.

I hope that isn't the surprise! I was hoping for a big RAF thing given loads will be in the air on the Friday anyway.

I was wondering that too but I can't imagine they are display certified, maybe a fly past?

Something along the lines of the size of the central sculpture. I have my doubts, but this is what I heard.

An F-35 is due to display at Duxford's Flying Legends that weekend apparently.

The F35 is part of the RAF100 Flypast on the Mall in London next week - so it will be signed off for public flypasts, if not active displays.

Ed
