If you lived within 10 miles of Goodwood & noisy aircraft were of NO interest or you had animals likely to be scared of an RAF boy in his toy then you will be delighted with such news.
The clue is in the title...Festival of Speed....not Festival of NIMBYs, or Festival of Dog Lovers, or Festival of Mumsnet......get on with your knittingWJNB said:

It's what, 45 minutes per year, in the daytime. The area gets a huge financial boost by having Goodwood on the doorstep. And compared to other events that descend on other places, relatively little inconvenience or crime. I've lived near Pilton before, the entire area grinds to an absolute stop for a week every year and I'm guessing the benefit to the local area comes nowhere close to FoS.WJNB said:

That said, there is a constant amount on light aircraft that are on the go evert day, and that spitfire is always flying overhead, don't you find those annoying you!!Tempest_5 said:
I've never felt that the FoS has been that great for watching the air displays from anyway. Too many trees in the way and you have to be in the right spot to see most of the display.
Couldn't agree more. With stuff like the Typhoon you hear more than you see. Should you not be attending the FoS at the time the Red Arrows are best seen from about a mile south of the venue as they tend to prepare to formate & split well away from the South Downs behind the estate & to the east of Chichester. And if you want to enjoy the full spectacle of modern noisy jets then do as I & others have done this week & attend the Tattoo at Fairford.
The arrivals days saw plenty of practice displays under a massive dome of blue, no trees & miles from any nearby concentration of populace.
It's the Festival of Speed with lots of lovely noisy cars of course but it's not a Festival of Sound.
