There were good catering options over by the aerodrome at the start. Excellent curry, Japanese and burger options. Next to no queue (on a heaving Sunday).

Take a picnic job done- no time wasted queuing and it will be as good or as bad as you want it to be.

Every event we go to we always take food - mainly due to having kids but you do save a bundle of £ and time

The main moan for me was that the whole event (I went on Sunday) just didn't seem to have the good atmosphere of previous years. It's hard to explain what precisely was wrong, but the gaps between events was often too long and generally it didn't seem to flow as well. I think also, they sell too many tickets, a bit less crowding would be welcome.

I went to the FOS for the first time this year and thouroughly enjoyed it.

I dragged the missus, who isn’t particularly interested in motorsport, along on Sunday so I considered the sit down lunch and champagne and ice cream as a bit of a compromise and didn’t worry too much about the cost.

My only gripe was some of the salespeople on the trade stalls being pretty in your face - I don’t come to these events to waste 10 minutes justifying to some perma tanned ‘Hello Fresh’ salesman why i’m not interested in signing up to his service. Of course the have a job to do but it was frustrating.

Totally agree about the food! I regret not bringing my own. Secondly having been for several years it has got busier and busier to the point where on sat and sun I think goodwood were a bit greedy with all the tickets they sold. I would far rather have paid more if there were less tickets sold.

I had an Indonesian Curry yesterday from one of the on-site vendors (that's all they did, and had Chicken, Beef or veg, and all were gluten free if that's of consequence to anyone) - it's was very good and also a good size portion. No complaints from me, and in my opinion, a step up from the normal burgers and fries brigade...
i think they were there last year - we ate there for lunch all four days and it was great priced and decent food, plus there's plenty of it. All too many events have the same generic (crap) food. It made a nice change to have something different.

Had a hotdog and pulled pork sandwich, both were £7-8 and very tasty. Also had a £3.5 Mr Whippy which was pricey but very creamy and probably the best one I've had!

That's a commonly held view but it's not born out by the figures. Tickets have been limited to 50,000 per day since 2004. The peak attendance was the previous year (2003) when it reached 158,000 over the (then) three days. it has never been that busy since.

I posted this last year and was told that it felt more crowded because of the increasing number of manufacturers' stands. One of the complaints this year has been the lack of manufacturers stands!

I go to Sainsburys on the Wednesday. I spend about £30 on food and bottled water. For four days, I take a lunchbox of food which contains various things like baby bel, cheery tomatoes, celery, cold new potatoes, dairylea triangles, Ryvitas and/or cream crackers, bottled water (a pack of six or eight can cost you £2's), multi pack of mini cheddars or various crisps etc. Take a flash of hot water and your own tea bags for your own tea.

You can refill your empty water bottles at various standing pipes across site... biggrinbiggrin

Apart from the cost of the tickets and programme. Old Dukey Old Bot (Duke of Richmond), got nothing more out of me. I think the only cost I spent over the four days was £2:50 on a bottle of diet coke in the GRRC Enclosure on the Friday afternoon.... biggrinbiggrin

I always expect to pay more at a show like this but £27 for two pints and two hot dogs for me and the missus was a bit of a shocker over in the aerodrome section.

I think the issue is more so the significant decrease in viewing areas open to the general public, particularly down at the bottom end.

It definitely felt quieter on the Friday this year, maybe the change to the format on Thursday has helped spread that load a bit.

Not been since 2010, did all the early ones, (£12 to get in the first time?, memory might be going) it's always going to get more corporate, if you get the right invitation it's excellent.

I must admit I've not bought Revival tickets this year either (first time in a long time) I do love that event, but with the Members meeting being so much more relaxed (like the Revival was at the start) I think I will wait and see what the availability is nearer the time and decide then.

When my Son gets a bit older I can see me taking him to the FOS as he's never been, I will have picnic with me !

I often wonder what life would be like without Goodwood.... what spectacular events they put on for us to enjoy. Just brilliant.

Yes, maybe there are some expensive burgers and yes it's quite busy. But those seem rather small issues when you look at what's on offer overall.

Is anyone allowed in the Porsche Cafe or is it reserved for GRRC members only?
Open to anyone although granted was busy
It’s split into two parts.

Everyone welcome section at approx £35 per head for lunch and Porsche hospitality section at approx £300 for the day (unlimited food/drink all day, includes your entry/grandstand pass).

Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking on the way home last night!

Always take our own food to this but end up buying drink when our supplies run out in the heat. So much better this yesterday with the free water taps. We got through two refills each.

We did RIAT on Saturday where each of the three water stations had six taps resulting in smaller queues. Maybe Goodwood could have something like that next year.

WRT numbers, it was my lad's 13th birthday yesterday so he asked if he could take a friend at a bit short notice. I managed to get to the ticket office just over a week ago and they said they still had a few tickets left. In past years it had been posted as sold out weeks before. The traffic in the area didn't seem as bad as it has been over previous FoS weekends either.

I thought there were less women this year, rarely had to queue for the toilets biggrin

I also take a packed lunch, the John West light lunch range ( 2 for £3.50 when on offer) are good with a tube of pringles.
