Hi Jules,

From what you've said, it isn't this beauty that attended Fast Estate Sunday last March?

Sure is! I bought her off Dan in October and I absolutely love driving her. Different plate on now but still starts with a B5 of course!

Praying for a dry day, too easy to spin the wheels under acceleration with 516lb ft smile
You lucky bar steward! I'm going to look this up, hope to see you around!

Just coming back to my original question as I haven't been to one of these before, what time does everyone generally arrive? I don't want to get up at stupid o'clock to find I'm Billy No Mates smile
You'll do very well to be Billy No Mates at a Goodwood Breakfast Club. They are usually rammed but well organised - doors open at 6:30am.
If you don't want to queue for breakfast (first or second), then 0630-0730.

I do hope that if you had been accepted to display your vehicle this time, they will accept you again for the new date in October.
Just reapply, it's very simple. I did a couple of hours ago, took all of 30 seconds.
Cheers for that, have re-applied.

It's a shame, I was looking forward to that.

Is the Guildford meet up still happening? biggrin

Goodwood has become the new British Rail - taken completely by surprise every time British weather arrives in Britain.
Because the public, of which there are a large number, park in the fields surrounding the track that is, IMO, a totally unfair remark. If you can predict the weather 3 - 4 weeks in advance I suggest you apply for a senior job at the Met Office. Else, just accept that it's a free met-up with breakfast options and the organisers do the best hey can. hehe
Plus the members meeting is a paid event.
Quite. And Goodwood makes an absolute packet out of these "free" events by selling a shed-load of coffee and bacon rolls at very full prices. March doesn't just run them so that everyone can have a free day out.

idea Now then, if motoring events were moved up hill to the well-drained horse racing course there wouldn't be a problem!
Errrrm….
afaik, they rent the plots to caterers.

I wonder why they don't just tarmac the parking areas? Or are the fields used for something else when there aren't events on?
Sheep don't like eating tarmac smile
Eat the sheep? Or move them up to the racetrack for on-going track maintenance? smile

Turn up early-ish in something ordinary modest & uninteresting & say you have a flying lesson booked. You'll be directed through the tunnel where you'll be left to park wherever you want, usually in the flying club car park & behind the Boultbee hanger. If you have something nice that does not too obviously conform to the days theme then do the same thing then it's easy to slip into the paddock area from the rear, staff & marshals per-occupied looking in the other direction.
Great fun beating the increasingly officious system & awful overcrowding which I have done a few times but not so often as to get noticed.
Or just be a normal decent individual and park with everyone else and walk in?
That's unnecessarily judgemental and so PH of you; a little bending of 'rules' periodically is fine, what's wrong with the insight?

At the end of the day, ecsrobin is just parking a car in a place, not committing high treason!

I know it’s the most petty of things but it’s not like the fields are that far away to walk like everyone else and if it’s good enough for Gordon Murray in his Mclaren F1 then anyone can do it.

Photo from another PH thread about the fields.
The car parks are tremendous, full of finds; however, treasuring a petrolhead paradise and berating a cad for mild jinx are not two sides of the same coin.

Nice photo though smile

My favourite was a Facel Vega, but an unusual one in a barn find condition - one of a handful in LHD and owned from new.

The Sunday Scramble is on at Bicester on the same day and we booked tickets for that, as this was unlikely to take place. At the end of the day, it's a free to attend event.
