Phone call today from Goodwood with offer of ticket refund, no success as have new card issued and requires a manager to authorise, so hopefully the £1100 refunded in the next few days.

Thought they were a bit cheeky asking if I was going to FOS next year that I may be better leaving tickets to run for next year as most likely the government will reduce the numbers allowed to the events and that all ticket prices will be increased to compensate for the lower numbers.

I’m all for helping and will let my membership run this year but come on Goodwood.........

I don’t see that as a cheeky suggestion, just proffering another viewpoint.

From the Goodwood point of view it would have helped with their cash flow, so eminently sensible.
From the customers point of view you could have held tickets to a very tightly restricted summer 2021 event.

I personally let all my MM, FoS and Revival tickets roll over.

Each to their own though. Strange times.

That’s all good if you can commit to making next years events though, they already knew I wanted a refund so why labour the point about increased pricing and reduced attendance numbers.

I don’t know. Maybe they were making you aware of the possibility of “increased pricing and reduced attendance numbers”. That’s new news, to me at least.
Anyway good luck with your refund.

Thanks.
The bit that got me was the mention increased pricing and reduced crowds.

Anyway, I will hopefully be at one of the events next year

Yeah that's very interesting, especially as I assume many/most people have rolled their tickets over, particularly so for the MM which was basically sold out when it was cancelled, wasn't it?

They could end up in a situation where they have too many active tickets for some of their events next year already, although that's likely/hopefully only going to be an issue for the MM. Imagine sorting that out!

If we have to keep the current social distancing approach come Members Meeting 2021, there will be less usable seats than tickets already sold and rolled over. Not a problem I would like to own......

The MM would be the least problematic of the three events as its already the smallest (numbers wise), it's a large circuit / house so although it might not be ideal it may have to be 'zoned' with extra gates internally, reach capacity in one area and stop people going in, limit the time people can spend in certain popular areas, open up previously unused / restricted parts / use one way systems.

It can all be done and will be dependant on the situation at the time

Funny thing with the MM is that despite the low attendance figures, 90% of people appear to remain in and around the paddock or nearby grandstands for the entire weekend.

Out and about around the circuit it's one of the quietest circuit events you'll find anywhere.

I'm sure on a 'people per sq ft' basis it's doable, but there are severe pinch points (getting in, for a start) which is where they will have real headaches (and additional costs). Closing the paddock and limiting grandstand numbers would make the event very unattractive to many, I'm sure.

I don't think the 78MM happening in 2021 is by any many certain as it stands.

I asked for a refund on 8th June (before the cancellation) - didn't hear anything.

When the cancellation was announced I recieved an e-mail giving me the option to roll the tickets over to next year or get a refund. I immediately asked for a refund (16th June) and got an automated reply - "phone lines are closed - will be in contact as soon as we can". SInce then nothing.

There's no information about refunds on the website. I've tried ringing a couple of times in case they've opened the phone lines but it either rings off or gives the option to leave a message and they will get back to me - they haven't.

Seems pretty poor.
