Why not just buy one from the official site? Still available.

Unless I'm being blind, it looks like Saturday is currently sold out unless you spend 85 quid on a GRRC membership, which I'd rather not...

Yep, my bad. I just saw the 'limited' on the front page, didn't actually click on it. I think they do get some tickets back though. There'll be plenty up for sale, maybe closer to the time as people realise their plans have changed. Good luck, you'll get one no problem. thumbup

Hi - I have 4x Members Meeting tickets for Saturday 13th April which I'm afraid I have to sell as I'll now be overseas.

The specifics are:

2 x Saturday Grandstand Package (adult), £318.00
2 x Saturday Entry (adult), £182.00
1 x Members' Meeting Car Show Parking, zero charge

Total cost £500. These are face value prices.

Happy to sell as 2 pairs (first come first served for the car park ticket) or a whole set.

Buyer to pay for tracked 24/48 postage.

Thanks.
Please note that Members' Meeting tickets cannot be sold on public forums. Please advertise these for sale on the GRRC Facebook group - although as tickets are still available from Goodwood, you might be better to wait until we sell out?

Best wishes,

Sarah

A little bit confused, but of course, you should know the rules...

I thought the Members referred to in the Member's meeting are (were originally) Members of BARC - it isn't actually tied to Members or Associates of the GRRC. There are restrictions on purchase of tickets direct from Goodwood (the purchaser has to be a Member or Associate), however, you don't have to be a Member or an Associate to attend.
I can't see how GRRC has any claim on secondary ticket sales.

Only members/fellows can buy tickets - it is a condition agreed to as part of the membership and when buying the tickets that restricts resale. The other events are mostly available to non members - but the tickets and benefits, only available to members have the same restrictions.
"Please note that selling or buying tickets on any other platform (such as eBay, PistonHead, Viagogo etc) is strictly prohibited and tickets that are re-sold illegally via any other third party will be refused admittance to the Members' Meeting. Attempting to sell your tickets in this method may result in your membership being rescinded.

Should you wish to sell/pass on your Members' Meeting tickets, please advertise them to other members of the GRRC community only on either the private Facebook groups or on the GRRC forum"

I don't have any tickets to sell, so it is an accademic point, but though that text appears in the FAQ, it doesn't seem to appear in any of the T&Cs in the buying process.
The drop-down box for quantity of tickets ranges from 0 - 50 ... it can't be expected that a Member would be buying an extra 49 tickets to give away to other Members. Technically, I couldn't buy a ticket for Mrs NIFAN, as she isn't a Member.

Buying loads of tickets to sell on at a profit - touting - is obviously not to be encouraged, but selling an extra ticket when your situation has changed is different.

It is more poor wording from Goodwood.

It’s a shame that Goodwood are going in this direction - no surprise there.

Goodwood used to encourage people to look on here for tickets years back. I suspect it’s to drive people to use their ticket reseller as part of a deal with them.

I’d carry on selling on here, they’ve never managed to stop the touts operating on the golf course at FOS so I doubt they will succeed here.

It's not that tickets are only for members it's that you can't buy members meeting tickets for resale to non members, as a condition of membership. FOS and revival are different as anyone can buy tickets so they are not bound by conditions of membership. You similarly can't sell the enclosure tickets that are only available to members etc.
It's not a new restriction it's always been the case it's in the current T&Cs which were last updated in 2020. You can only "Sell" at face value or less to people who are accompanying you.
12.3"Tickets to Goodwood Events are strictly non-transferable and may not be re-sold, auctioned or transferred in any circumstances except (i) at face value or less to a person who intends to accompany the Applicant or (b) via our ticketing resale partner. Goodwood’s ticketing resale partner is Twickets (https://www.twickets.live/), a fan to fan secure trading platform which enables the sale and purchase of tickets at face value or less, and any tickets sold through any other third party intermediary will not be accepted. We hereby give notice of our policy to identify tickets being illegally sold or re-sold or transferred to unauthorised agents or other third parties. Holders of such tickets, whether knowingly or not, shall be refused admittance to the Goodwood Events or Goodwood Experiences or removed from the grounds. "

Dear Robin,

The reason we only allow ticket resales via Twickets is because they are the only public resale platform to check the validity of each ticket offered for sale, and they offer a guarantee to both seller and purchaser. We do not receive any financial recompense from Twickets.

Tickets sold on eBay, Facebook marketplace, Gumtree and, sadly, even on Pistonheads, cannot be guaranteed to be valid and every year, at every headline event, we face increasing numbers of people arriving at the gates with fake/cancelled/invalidated tickets. Often, they have paid for travel, accommodation etc and only discover at the gates that their tickets are invalid. There is absolutely nothing we can do in these circumstances, and it's upsetting and frustrating for everyone. Therefore we do everything we can to warn people off purchasing tickets from anyone other than Goodwood or Twickets.

I know that most people are honest, and 90% of transactions are probably fine but sadly, the scammers are unwilling to declare themselves at the point of sale, and therefore there is no way to know if you are in the 10% of people being scammed.

With regard to the touts - what they are doing is not criminal, therefore the police cannot intervene. Our security staff do move them on as often as possible, but they quickly return.

With best wishes,

Sarah

Rules are made to be broken smile it's an age old tradition.

What if you are not a member any more? can you still access the members FB page to sell your tickets?

T&C's are all cobblers we all know it, like all tickets all over the world there all purchased and resold. You will never stop it.

Bit like the members meeting a few back, bumped into a friend with the family, said did not know you were a member? to which he replied

"I'm not my mum was given a few!" I know him mum is nothing to do with Goodwood. Just saying.

Dear John,

We are doing our level best to protect people from unknowingly purchasing fake, cancelled or invalid tickets, as they don't discover that they have been scammed until they arrive at the gates of the event and are turned away. It's upsetting and frustrating for everyone - the purchaser, who has wasted the money spent on the tickets, on their travel and sometimes even on their accommodation, and also on the ticket scanners at the gates, who often bear the brunt of the anger and frustration. Whatever we can do to help to minimise the risk of this is worthwhile, even if it does cause some inconvenience to people who wish to resell their genuine tickets. We are very grateful to everyone who helps us in this campaign. We do monitor sites such as eBay, Facebook Marketplace etc and try to report/remove listings, but we cannot catch them all.

With best wishes,

Sarah

The biggest thing seems to be what if the event gets cancelled like the FOS a year or so back.

If you buy via Goodwoods recommended partner Twickets - who gets the refund?

For some, keeping to what they have agreed to do, is important, even if it's inconvenient (maybe even more so) - for others it's more fluid. The "But, but, the other kids are doing it" precedent is, of course, always compelling and less revealing than I can't be completely trusted to keep my word. Even if not a member you have access to "Twickets" which will let you receive full face value.

Sorry, John, I thought your post was rhetorical. Were you asking whether non-members have access to the member-only GRRC Facebook group? I'm afraid they don't, no. The original purchaser would have to access the Facebook page in order to list their ticket for sale, if there were no friend or family member to give it to.

If you have any other questions that have not been answered, please don't hesitate to email me (sarah.mayhead@goodwood.com) at any time. I would be delighted to answer. Alternatively, the GRRC team can also help (grrc@goodwood.com), as can the Ticket Office team (01243 755055, ticketoffice@goodwood.com). Each event page also has a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions section, in which we try our hardest to answer every question we can think of - do let me know if I can signpost you to these pages.

I do hope that helps.

With best wishes,

Sarah
