My first time at Revival on Sat, as was gifted an admission ticket. I did enjoy it, however I think it would have been far more enjoyable with a grandstand view and access to the pits. I think a little more seating area would have been nice.

I would definitely return.

You need to be gifted a grandstand ticket too then smile
And hospitality for paddock access smile
Or GRRC membership.

Never been to the revival but always wanted to go (only ever go to the FOS every year). The online pictures from the revival always look amazing but the coverage on YouTube usually only involves track action.

I've just seen this coverage of the event and it's the best more rounded coverage I've seen anywhere. It gives more insight into the other activities happening around the event.

I think I'll definitely be going next year!

The only question i need to know now is, which is the best day to go to the revival?

I reckon it's like the FOS where different days cater for different things and i personally always prefer to go to that on a Friday.

I can’t say I feel there’s much difference in atmosphere across the weekend however track action is only qualifying and 1 race on Friday so if you’re there for racing the weekend are the days to go.

Friday at the Revival is mostly practice, with a race at the end of the day. It's a good time to wander round the other attractions, like the Motor Show and aircraft displays, as well as "Over the Road" with its dealer stands, bookshops and cinema/fairground.

Although all days are usualy sold out, I always feel that Saturday is the busiest, or at least it seems so. Both weekend days have a full day's racing and all the tribute demonstrations so they don't really differ in content. The hub of the crowd in the Village area is like a football crowd on Saturday- difficult to move anywhere quickly. Avoid.

Thank you very much for that reply.

All the points you make are exactly behind my reasoning as to why i always prefer to go to the FOS on a Friday instead of any other day.

Friday it's going to be then at the Revival next year....Cheers!

Most of the concerns/issues raised by people in this thread can be easily fixed by attending the Member's Meeting instead. The racing is still spectacular but there is more space than you could possibly ever need, full access to pretty much everywhere but the assembly area, and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Even with the annual Fellowship cost factored in (the MM is the only reason I buy it, I don't use any other benefits) it feels like a bargain for what you're getting and the limited number of spectators there, the staging/theming isn't on a Revival level but it's still pretty special and miles ahead of pretty much any other event I can think of.

You'll see little racing though, although just seeing the cars on track in practice can be really good.

Also, on any day, once you've gone past Madgewick the crowd really thins, and even at Lavant the numbers are pleasant and manageable, and every corner is a good one and each one has multiple viewpoints.

We always do 3 days. Friday is take a good walk round looking at the off track stuff and then watch the evening race, Saturday we do roving grandstands, spending pretty much all the time in the Woodcote stands, and Sunday we take our folding chairs and walk round the perimeter.

i always watch the TT at Noname, I love the speed down to Fordwater and then I love watching them sweep into noname, and there's always spaces aplenty at the fencing to watch.

Thisyear I do think there were more people at the paddock end of things, and less dancing. I've loved the music and dancing that has been put on at various locations in the past. smile

That entirely depends on whether you want to get a Roving Grandstand pass and watch racing or simply take in the atmosphere.

I’ve yet to use a grandstand at FOS, MM or revival in 20+ years of visiting Goodwood and am yet to feel like I’m missing out.

Don't mind too much if it's just qualifying on a Friday, so long as it's one of the less crowded days and i can just enjoy the atmosphere. Cheers!

Crowd numbers are the same each day it’s just where the crowds congregate. On a Friday a lot of regulars take the time to explore the site, by Saturday everyone doesn’t want to move from the paddocks/main straight. Sunday people spread out slightly more.

However I go these days for the entertainment as the racing each year is close to identical. I didn’t find at any point saturday uncomfortable and at any point I found a space if I wanted it.

Thanks for the tips. Always good to know the little advantage points around the circuit.

Doing the 3 days is great commitment! biggrin

I can pretty much guarantee you'll feel one day isn't sufficient to see everything you want to. smile

There's so much going on that I'd recommend at least two days. Or like me, make sure you're there for all three so you can get round everything in a relaxed fashion.

The pre-'66/tax free car park can take a couple of hours in itself. hehe

Cheers for that. I guess each day has its little quirks. I'll be more than happy just to experience it for the first time on a day next year. I guess the following year, i can choose a different day to go. Don't think i can commit to more than one day or 2 days at the max for now unless i was camping or lodging nearby. I'll most likely get a Friday ticket when they become available for sale. Cheers

Hmmm, unfortunately family commitments wouldn't allow the luxury of 3 days at the moment. Might be able to stretch to 2 days though but would mean driving there and back from Kent over the 2 days.

Never mind, one day! biggrin

Best day for me is Sunday, the RAC trophy is always a highlight.
In the old days I used to go on Friday and Sunday.
Don’t bother with a grandstand, plant yourself at St Mary’s for the best view. Hardly anyone is there and it is great.
For the total no crowd experience MM is the way forward.
