One of the reasons I was wondering is that for at least one of the MM testing days a couple of weeks ago it was too wet to use the fields for parking and instead spectators were bussed from the race course. IMHO it hasn’t got any dryer since then.

Goodwood said at the time this was done for the test days to protect the parking for the MM.

In any event, logistically, I don't think this would be sensibly do-able with the much large attendance to the event proper.

Hearing the cars testing on this rather wet Tuesday reminds me that I meant to make any visitors aware of two significant and necessary road closures for those coming from the North and East.

The first is the A29 at Pulborough, the final downhill bit through 100 yards of woodland where a landslip at the end of last year still hasn't been resolved and has resulted in the road's closure. There is a diversion around that area, but it is via side roads so not very rapid.

The second is the A286 and A272 through the centre of Midhurst where a recent fire has destroyed the Angel hotel and adjacent buildings in the middle of the town and has resulted in the total closure of the road as the hotel's unsupported frontage survives but in a dangerous condition. The country lanes around the town are the only way of diversion, but aren't well signposted at the moment and result in confrontations on very narrow roads which are also potholed.

So the only ways around are either by Storrington, which is a bit of a bottle neck anyway, Petworth which is the same, or Petersfield which would be the ideal way from the north, followed by a nice drive through the Chilgrove valley to Lavant. I will update closer to the race date if the situation changes.
Many thanks for that. thumbup

Parking -

I was at Goodwood on Sunday and I initially parked in the field opposite the main entrance. There is gravel track that leads through the field but most of the parking areas were very wet. I got stuck (in my E350d estate) but almost immediately found a Goodwood 4x4 to help me out (thank you Jack).

In my opinion, the car parks will be very tricky places at the weekend. I live relatively close to Goodwood and it rained very heavily yesterday for an extended period. It is forecast to rain all day tomorrow.

I'm sure some already know this, but there are specific buses laid on from Chichester train station that take you straight to the circuit. Maybe park near the station? Or park near a connecting station?

Dear all,
A few updates:
Road closures: Midhurst will be closed over the weekend, as well as some roads around Easebourne, and the diversion takes you along some narrow lanes which will be VERY busy. I'd advise avoiding the whole area, if possible.
I've heard anecdotally that there may be a road closure in Pulborough, but haven't had confirmation yet.
Parking: We are keeping off all of the public car parks ahead of Saturday in an effort to preserve them as much as possible, and it's dry and sunny today, so fingers crossed, we should be ok. If you have a choice of vehicle, however, I would advise selecting the one that can cope better with softer ground.
If you have a pass for any of the car parks (Lavant Bank, Lavant Bank Infield, Members' meeting Car Show or Porsche car park) please note that we will be sticking to the criteria for each area, so if you bring a car that does not fit the theme (e.g. newer than 30 years old, not a Porsche etc) please be prepared to park in the public car parks. It's worth saying that Lavant Bank will have substantially less traffic, so hopefully should remain more grass than mud, and Lavant Infield is on hard-standing, so no issues there.
Incidentally, do watch out for potholes on all of the roads around Chichester - they seem to be particularly bad at present. The navigation app Waze is good at giving warnings about some of them.
Best wishes, and hopefully see you over the weekend,
Sarah

There are still tickets coming up on the Fellowship Facebook group (at face value) if anyone is still looking. Not sure if full members can access that group too, hopefully so.

If anyone's planning on doing the B2146 - B2141, then this section:

Between the bend at top left and The White Horse has some eye watering pot holes on both sides. It's mostly been fairly well patched after that until you're in Lavant, the twisty section into South Harting seems to be okay too.

Sounds like an opportunity to feel smug - so MX5 stays at home (awful on slippery grass) and Hyundai 4wd on Cross Climates gets a 700 mile run out .

Porsche parking and Members' Meeting Car Show parking now cancelled, I'm guessing it's 'a bit muddy' down there.

Shows how much attention I pay - I didn’t even know there was a Porsche Parking thing going on and I’m in the Porsche!

GRRC Instagram and Facebook pages. Somebody replied who is already there (camping) and said 'welcome to the mud pit', which sounds promising!

Sorry if this isn't the right forum, but my ticket hasn't turned up. Does this mean having to queue up for collection on the day?

Probably- happened to me one year; phoned the ticket office in somewhat of a panic and was told that I’d opted for ticket collection when I’d originally ordered the tickets.
Make sure you take your order confirmation.
Collection “hut” normally just before the ticket check.
