GT0 250A belongs to Alastair Caldwell, the former McLaren team manager (he was from the original Bruce McLaren days and a top bloke). He had that built as a 250 GTO replica over in New Zealand, using his tired Ferrari 330GT as it's base.
Ah, so my gut feeling was right then, no wonder said member of staff retreated pretty quickly when I mentioned the difference in number plate, and that it didn’t look like an original, though to be fair it may just have been the information they had been given.

Lovely looking 288 GTO near to it .

I thought it was just me dreaming that it felt absurdly busy this year, has capacity been increased? I spend quite a bit time around the chicane infield and every year previous it's been easy to just wander into a spot on the fence line nearest the chicane at any time...not a chance this year. The crowd line was pretty solid all the way to Madgwick.
Me too. I normally hang out at the back of the circuit. It was visibly more crowded than ever.

Straight in the car park at 8am, straight out at 7 with no queues what so ever.

Nick Mason's Ferrari is registered 250GTO . In the days when it was just an old racing car , it was once parked next to my Alfasud in the Silverstone public car park ... The N suffix gave the game away on the car at Goodwood but it was still just gorgeous . As would the 288GTO have been , had it not been in white . A Chris Evan's cast off ? Who else would want white one ?

Aha! Well it had me thoroughly fooled! Still a lovely thing of course :-)

Rented a little house in Chichester this year which was great.

Bus in on Saturday morning took forever, guess that was because the car parks were loading more slowly than usual.

Left just before the fireworks, sadly, as my pal has back problems and didn't want to queue for the bus. This did allow us a few pints in Chichester though before turning in.

Sunday morning we had the choice of walking 20 mins to the train station for the bus, only to pass our house on the way to the circuit, so we decided to walk in instead.. about 30 mins walking past the queuing cars.

Spent most of Sunday around Fordwater / St Mary's / Lavant before train Chichester > London Bridge > Euston > Liverpool home by 11pm with none of the stress of driving.

Walked nearly 30 miles, ankles and legs swollen as a result, loved every minute and can't wait for next year!

great picture. really highlights how in the middle the engine is, not just over the back axle as with many road cars. and the rear spoiler clear of most air turbulence.

I wondered whether that white was ex Evans too.

Just read the excellent piece in motor sport which made me remember the MM!… I didn’t think it was that busy to be honest, from woodcote to madgwick was a bit crowded, particularly around the tunnels it seemed but from Fordwater round the circuit, it was lovely…..

Always plenty of space at the fence, no queues for food or drinks, space in the grandstands at lavant, corner, straight… yes it all got busy at the start of the evening in the paddock and chicane and start line grandstands but always does.

Noticed a definite change on demographics attending too, which was good to see
