Kinrara Thursday Ballot

Friday in Kinara was terribly overcrowded with the heavy rain, 80% of covered area (not including the grandstand) was empty but only available if you paid for food……..complete rip off in my opinion…..
Not sure why you are quoting me - I was talking about the new enclosure. The one that certain posters were convinced would be overcrowded. It wasn't.Let's jump back!
I didn't actually go this year, partly because of the way the Kinrara enclosure now works.
Previously it has made it more of an event for me, but as escrobin says, I normally only pop in, grab a beer then I am off for the rest of the day.
I entered the ballot, wasn't successful, but if I had have been, then a 'place' would have been available all day to me, thereby denying others the access for the other 10 hours that I was elsewhere.
It is another erosion of benefits. My view is the same. I like to try and get around as much of the site as possible so I don't stay in any one place for long. I didn't enter the Kinrara ballot for that very reason, my half-hour in there would deny a place to someone else.
In retrospect, I think my altruism was misplaced. The Kinrara obviously has a maximum capacity but Goodwood clearly "oversell" the enclosure, presumably based on the expected average number of people who will be there at any one time - i.e. they expect there to be people like us who just pop in.
If there is a Kinrara ballot next year I shall enter it.

The problem with the ballot is it doesn’t work for the casual user. I like to drop a bag of and have a coffee then pop to my bag throughout the day, if I’m nearby and there’s an interesting batch I’ll pop in to watch but otherwise I’m not there. That means I take up a space for someone who wants to be there all day.
This 100%.I didn't actually go this year, partly because of the way the Kinrara enclosure now works.
