He's right though.
No he's not. You can't do policing on natural language variations. British English isn't the only way to speak English.

'gotten' just grates horribly.

What is wrong with 'got' or 'recieved'?

We gave the septics a perfectly good language and look what they have done to it.

What do you mean by "septics"?

Your attitude is utterly painful.

Um, they refunded in 2020 after the entire event was cancelled.

Off topic but another for no issue with gotten. All depends where you are in the world.

Gotten is an old English word. Largely fallen out of use in British English but not in American:

That has been obtained, acquired, or won. Frequently with modifying adverb. Now rare except in ill-gotten adj.

The earliest known use of the adjective gotten is in the Middle English period (1150—1500).

“gotten, adj., sense 2”. Oxford English Dictionary, Oxford University Press, July 2023, <https://doi.org/10.1093/OED/5856634424>

Exactly. Variations are natural depending on where you're from, colloquialisms etc.

Back on topic; I saw someone on Facebook complained that they were refunded for their tickets, but were not refunded for a £138 lunch they had booked in advance. Anyone else book extras along with their tickets? I'm only waiting on ticket refunds thankfully...I didn't opt for any extras

OK, I could have elaborated……..not sure why I’m justifying my comment, but anyway…..

A bit easier as COVID was a full refund.

One day in the middle of the event is not so easy with 3 day passes, 3 day grandstand, hospitality etc having to be refunded as a percentage not a full refund as was seen during COVID.

A bit more work required on each refund (unless it was a Saturday only purchase)

I think you’re being rather generous. It would take a few minutes to come up with the various formulae in Excel. We are not talking about a back street operation here…

Still awaiting my refund, radio silence since the initial email. It's frankly appalling.

I'm the same! I also followed up with an enquiry via email and never received a response

I did as well and that was ignored. Tried phoning and recorded message says 'bear with them'. It's been a month now, frankly that's taking the pee.

For the benefit of anyone else waiting I rang and spoke to them just now. They confirmed refunds have started but not in any particular order and they are having to do each one MANUALLY due to differing packages having been ordered - it's not by computer. I said a holding email would be nice as radio silence for almost a month and that is being fed back. I asked for a timeline and 'I could be lucky and get in the next week or two' but it could be longer.... mental in this day and age of computers but there we are.

Agreed. It's appalling. If expectations had been set (holding email, a meaningful response when phoning or timeline given) I would have had more empathy with GW. Certainly not the way to treat your high paying, hospitality customers.

Thanks a million for this update and for giving them feedback about their communication. The phone number wouldn't work for me (I'm outside the UK).

Youre welcome smile I've been a Fellowship Member for quite a few years but won't be renewing it this year. I thought this year may be my last FOS as last year had a lot of EV stuff which doesn't interest me ('electric avenue etc') so a real shame I didn't get there this year. The whole refund thing is a shambles and just irritates me, having paid for a local hotel on the Friday night and already been there when the cancellation came through. We stayed local (Weald and Downland outside Museum) and it wasn't that windy either.

Presumably, if you bought through Goodwood's official reseller Twickets you should get a refund. I don't know how that works though and I suspect you won't get Twickets' fees back.
I'd sold my Saturday ticket via Twickets and still received a refund from Goodwood, so I've passed it over to the buyer.

Refund only landed with me yesterday so they're taking a while to come through.

Not heard anything about my refund either, but just had an email from Goodwood confirming my £99 purchase for the Richmond Enclosure for today at the Qatar Goodwood Festival... something I definitely haven't purchased!

Tried calling but no answer so have emailed for an explaination.

Anyone else?
Still no refund but I did receive this email regarding the strange purchase made on my account:

Goodwood said:
I do apologise but this is an error on our side. We had our race meeting - Qatar Goodwood Festival - on that day and used your account by mistake to process through a ticket in the Richmond enclosure. As it was on the day sale using a PDQ machine, we wouldn’t have charged you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Kind regards

Ollie
I’m now firmly in the “this is unacceptable” camp.

Anyone who had a weekend ticket had a refund yet?
