The end of free Thursday FOS tickets

I am not really interested in the FoS, and rarely claimed my included tickets. However, I am too far away to make use of the Kennels.. only really down in that area for Goodwood events and isn't the Kennels not properly open during those times as it would be too busy?
People who are local may well be able to take more advantage.

I’m a fellow that has just taken up the membership offer - I’ll see if it works out and decide whether I want to stay.
I went to the first FoS (and Revival) but my interest is really the MM and the Revival these days, so the loss of a free ticket on Thurs is immaterial to me. The sums do add up though because I’m normally buying around 4 tickets over multiple days so once you minus the fellowship fee and apply the 25% discount you’re not far off. I’ve also been paying for hospitality at the Revival so will see if any of the access/facilities fill some of that gap. If they do, it’s definitely worth it.
May I ask if you joined before or after the latest 'changes'?I went to the first FoS (and Revival) but my interest is really the MM and the Revival these days, so the loss of a free ticket on Thurs is immaterial to me. Also as escrobin says, I think Associates get 10% off two tickets whereas Members get 25% so there is only a 15% difference on two tickets.

Friend of mine is a fellow. Takes great delight in telling me how often he goes to the kennels and then reminding me how much I pay for membership. Yes I know the fellows are only allowed two or whatever visits. He goes at least once or twice a month!
Good point. I’ve never been asked to prove I’m a member when walking in. ecsrobin said:

It wasn’t a give away ticket. It was a part of the membership benefits that have been withdrawn while prices have continued to increase.
Unfortunately this is what many members will miss (a suspicion is those with deeper pockets). For those who members who did use the Thursday tickets and plan to continue to do so membership will actually be nearly £400 next year. 2025 closer to £450 if they continue to increase membership by £20 instead of the past £10 a year.
For those that didn’t use the ticket but did attend Friday to Sunday I suspect are about to find that their 3 day ticket has just got a lot more expensive when/if they move to a 4 day ticket going forward although for that an answer should come this week I guess.

Just joined (today) but was aware. FoS isn’t something I do very often so wasn’t a concern. I had missed the 2 person limit for the Revival though, so may go next year! Also as escrobin says, I think Associates get 10% off two tickets whereas Members get 25% so there is only a 15% difference on two tickets.

I’ve always been asked for the ‘members name’, never proof of actually being a member, perhaps that needs to change.Goodwood have started a cull of the negative posts on Facebook it would seem. After a week of letting my post run which had around 30 people in agreement this morning it has been deleted.
My comment:
“It's not a very special club it's a business. As has been discussed elsewhere you are the exact member Goodwood wants. Someone with enough money to not see why it's a problem.”

That's a very recent cull then Robin, I read that post about an hour ago.
Yes. The fact that post has been there over a week and other posts were removed within that conversation I’m guessing someone from above has asked for it to be cleaned up. It also then gets rid of plenty of posts that were linked to it both pro and for my comments/the comment I was replying to. Dear Robin,
I am responsible for removing posts on the GRRC Facebook group. I do try to keep up but sometimes my other tasks mean that I am a day or two behind. I only ever remove posts or comments that contravene our group rules. I am always happy to discuss any decision, either on the FB page, or by email (sarah.mayhead@goodwood.com) if you disagree.
With best wishes,
Sarah

Well perhaps you could say which rule(s) were broken here?I am responsible for removing posts on the GRRC Facebook group. The silence from the very top speaks volumes.
I'm certainly not at the top, Nick, but I am here and try to answer questions where I can! However I am conscious that this is not a Goodwood site, and therefore it's not really appropriate for me to comment on opinions etc. Best wishes,
Sarah

If you don't wish to comment on PH, could I ask if you would like to comment on the GRRC Forum? (Not FaceBook as many people don't use that).
You must know that many people are very unhappy with the direction of the club and would like some feedback on this from the powers that be.
I fear the Club's position may be - well, leave then - which would be disappointing.
