I bet Goodwood hadn't approved that text.
Since it was one of Goodwood's closest secrets that would be very foolish of them.
Then again, it is quite possible.
I've only just seen this thread, so followed the link. I see the text says "...and mailing directly to thousands of GRRC members around the world". So I'm wondering has it been changed, removing the number?

Looks like it has!
That page has the following in its metadata:

So, we now know that they know we know!

Goodwood today (after numerous requests had been ignored) are saying 7,500-8,500 members which is 2-3,000 less than what the printers were saying. The cynic in me wants to believe the printers more than the GRRC.

I wonder why it’s taken so long to come out with the answer……..

By way of a quick update, I am aware that behind the scenes that this thread has been noted.
It remains to be seen if any of the issues raised can be corrected, but I am in some ways hopefull that something positive may come out of it.

I wonder if something is going as when I cancelled my GRRC membership I was sent an email to say I had up to 31-12-23 to change my mind

I started this thread and ultimately decided not to upgrade my membership. I couldn't find a single reply in this thread or any others justifying the cost, which would have been £500 for the first year. I'll put myself back on the waiting list to see if things have improved in a few years time.

A real shame that it's not what I thought it was.

It’s a shame, if you’d asked us 5 years ago you’d have a majority yes, sadly the Duke/GRRC have led us down the path we are at now.

Like above I’ve also been contacted for a coffee and chat but have declined.

Like many on here I thought long and hard before renewing my membership. Having been a member for 20+ years and paying by DD renewal is not something I have ever even considered previously but this year I did.

In the end, and chatting with my wife about it, I decided to give it one more year. I've booked for Friday and Saturday at the Revival and will be retuning to seats in Chicane Grandstand instead of Lavant Bank where we've been for the last couple of years. The problem with Lavant is that there is no big screen directly opposite and viewing on the long straight isn't the most exciting - parking is good though!

We also enjoy the Member's Meeting and I get along to the GRRC Breakfast Club (and the others). I'll also try to get down to the Kennels more than the odd occasion. Certainly the GRRC Garage was an improvement in '23. I'm less interested in the FoS so I'll see how it goes. If I don't feel like I've enjoyed my 2024 membership I'll drop out at the end of next year. Incidentally a good friend of mine who has been a member since year dot has cancelled this year. frown

Wow, should of took them up on the offer, you really could of told them what you thought, as you know it would make no difference in the end,

Like everyone on here I have been around since 2006 I think, and I am wondering wether to renew or not, I used the Thursday tickets always just of late.
I did do Kinrara for a chunk of years (11/16) as it was a great place to be and it was great to park down near the start line (the old place in the trees) then they moved it up the hill and had a shuttle service, that did not work did it lol.
Now Kinrara is just so busy its not a pleasure anymore.

I thought the same about the lack of screen at Lavant this year, Richard. I tend to park some way up towards Lavant corner so that I can see across to St Mary's/Fordwater as well as Lavant itself. Binoculars help see the action and, if memory serves me well, there's previously been a screen further down the straight past the GRRC enclosure which I could also train the glasses on to follow the race.

Lavant is a great place to be, but watching a motor race on a long straight isn't necessarily the most exciting of viewpoints. I've dropped back to one day there this year, but will be at the event all weekend as usual...We like to be able to move around the circuit to watch the racing from different viewpoints.

Dear Andy,

As membership is a year-long product, yours will carry on until 31 December regardless - I'm afraid there is no way to end it earlier than this, as you have already paid for the year. I hope that clarifies!

With best wishes,

Sarah

I expect you already know but just to be clear, the MM and the Breakfast Clubs (including the GRRC one) are available to Fellows, as are two visits a year to the Kennels.

I'm very much in the same situation as you Richard. I shall definitely be relinquishing my family membership but I'm still undecided whether to downgrade to individual, fellowship or nothing at all. My feeling is to do as you have and give it one more year, however I'm aware that I said that last year.

Pretty sure Josh told me 8000-8500 today. I didn't write it down, but my memory usually last more than a couple of hours.

I am sure that from a few postings above, people can work out there has been a bit of communication off-forum in an attempt to resolve things.
I spent just shy of an hour and 20 minutes on the phone today as a remote chat over coffee (which went cold as I was talking too much).
I made my points, and have 5 pages of notes that are getting emailed across.

I don't have special powers, rights or access - just an ordinary long-standing member that would rather see if we can fix it rather than walk away.

There is to be some form of announcement which is intended to address some of our concerns, in the next Newsletter. I did say it better be good, and better be quick.
Future benefits are being looked at, but I did make the point that sometimes things that Goodwood thinks are a benefit, aren't always seen that way by the membership.

I know that Goodwood do see some of the postings on here, but it is their policy not to engage via this medium.
I am hopeful that something can be improved - but I am pretty well out of answers.

Is it worth starting a debate as to what without taking anything away from Associates, could Goodwood 'give' to Members to restore the balance and desirability?

Oh yes, I don't dispute that, I saw the post.
