I'm going to FoS this year for the first time. Is there somewhere that PHers camp local to the venue or perhaps B&B etc, I have family in London but that's way too far away.

From memory there is a camping area near one of the etrance gates at the top of the hill in the carpark. Not a huge area and given how few tents there were perhaps its not the only place - that or its very difficult to get a place. Maybe a bit of sleuthing is in order for a local campsite to accomodate a few PHers for the weekend. Somewhere close but not attached to Goodwood. Wonder what the uptake would be like scratchchin

Are you in the area? I'm from the York area so can't really get there to check places out. If a suitable place can be located I would happily negotiate a deal and sort out a segregated area for us. I organise several motoring events and shows from a distance including one motor circuit camping event so this should be a piece of cake, I just need someone with local eyes to make sure the campsite looks OK.

I'm a bit closer than you but still a long way away I'm afraid - Hertfordshire. Had a quick browse on the web and couldn't find anything suitable - seems to be a lot of 'holiday park' style sites around that part of the world when I guess all we need is a big field, loos and showers and a decent local pub. I figure that these are the sorts of places that don't have websites though. I'll do a bit more investigation....

thumbup Sorted then. We'll organise to find each other for pitching up together nearer the time. Plenty of cans of beer and I'll be sorted too.

I've e-mailed them to see if there are any special arrangements for the FoS weekend and I'll post when I get a response.

Hi Doug,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Unfortunately, we are fully booked for the motorsport events at Goodwood.

The Motorsport office may still have some space on their temporary site for Festival of Speed. Tel: 01243 755055.

Alternatively, the Chichester Tourist information office may be able to assist regarding alternative sites. Tel: 01243 775888.

Kind regards,

Looks like a no go I'm afraid. I'll carry on searching so watch this space

We stayed at Petworth camp site, google it. Lovely site about 1/2 hour from Goodwood, in a forest. It was the best one close to Goodwood and access is possible through the backroads.

Highly recommended, apart from the bit where the caravan wheel fell off down the road on the way to Goodwood revival, dont ask.

Just spoken to a helpful chap at Goodwood. The temporary camping area at the top of the hill costs £140 per pitch for the period Thursday night - Monday also requires the purchase of at least one full weekend pass to the event. A pitch is for up to 4 people and one car.
