Was anyone else in the carpark S?

I thought we were going to have some trouble, but the previous vehicles had stripped the field back to the chalk hehe

Did the black stripeless GT parked behind you make it out of the car park?
He was still there when I left, but I'd imagine he'd have no issues getting out as long as he got up to the gravel drive just above him.

Were you in carpark V then? How did you get your ticket?

Nope - got chauffeured in and dropped off at the VIP point just behind the house. Saw the formation of GTs as we drove past and up the hill. Couldn't help noticing some very expensive rides in V on the way past. Horrible Sunday night drive back to London though wasn't it?

Oh yes. Stuck on A3 (not too bad) then M25 (worse) then the Blackwall tunnel was really bad. Somewhere the wrong side of 3 hours.

Friday was pretty good, although rush-hour traffic at Richmond, Guildford, Petworth, drivers pootling along not trying to overtake, then the queues to get in meant a 60 mile journey took 2 hours & 20 minutes. Friday at the event was good though. Got out (6.45 pm) & home much quicker.

Sunday was not nice. No rush-hour traffic this time, but still loads of people tooling along at 30 pmh in 50mph zones etc. Huge queues to get in again. Left home at 8am, arrived in GRRC forward parking just before 10. Pissing rain all day caused a sea of umbrellas which meant you could see virtually nothing on the 'hillclimb'. Crowds thronging around Lewis Hamilton meant it was very difficult to get a look at the McLaren. Left at about 6 pm & the queue to get out was really bad. I saw 4 x4 's spinning their wheels & churning-up the car park. Lots of people just don't have a clue how to drive in those conditions. We were all filtered out through one gate, so it was a case of about 10 lanes of traffic going to one. Also the so-called car park was so churned-up by then that the ruts were really deep in places. Luckily, I was easy on the throttle & got my old Astra out with no problem at all. Just took ages because of the queues.

Don't think I'll be back for the F.o.S on the Sunday in future(too many people), though may venture down on Fridays. Anyway I prefer the Revival, which has superb viewing & is much better value for money. That's real racing.

If you want to see proper hill climbing, then visit one of the venues that hold the British Hill Climb Championship. My favourites are Shelsley or Prescott, but check-out www.top12runoff.co.uk for details of a round near you.
