I have no problem paying £15 for breakfast if the quality is as is implied.

I won't pay £15 for congealed, lukewarm food.

So go to the NAAFI van! (or one of the other catering vans staffed by the Eastern Europeans)

2 bacon and egg rolls, cooked in front of you and 2 cups of coffee, 10 quid. They'll even crisp the bacon up nicely if you ask.

Myself and Strangely Brown are regular visitors, have been for a couple of years and we once tried the sit down option. It was actually the first Sunday they moved it from the cafe. It wasn't for us, so we went back to the NAAFI. It certainly didn't promote us to question our continued attendance of the event. The people it started to attract at the end of last year did that.

I must say though, the chappy with the little coffee van was doing a roaring trade. Very good coffee too. Almost makes me fancy the idea for a change of job!

There was a marked change (in my opinion) throughout the year (more towards the end) in the attendees, going from a group of people with a genuine shared interest and passion in the cars being displayed, which in turn created an atmosphere of its own, to a mass gathering of people who maybe not all were there to appreciate the themes. Maybe that's unfair, but that's the impression I got and the general atmosphere certainly wasn't as congenial.

As I say, just my opinion and as we all know, they're like bums. Everyone has one. smile

Agree RF, popularity breeds...

The same thing happened with the Tunnel Runners' attendees so we went restricted (with varying results!).

Not at all. It's not only the Chavs and Pikeys.

I think L100NYY has summed it up much more succinctly than me.

I should make clear though, that I do still very much enjoy the event and the run there and back. The fact that a sit down breakfast is a bit pricey has never dented that enthusiasm as I can see why they do it. The marshals have to be provided otherwise it would just descend into a much bigger example of the Sunday Service with all the problems that developed through the morning there and be shut down almost instantly.

Indeed Mr Firecracker,

For me Goodwood is a truly wonderful place and has an atmosphere that for me is only equalled by Brooklands in my humble opinion. It's one of the few places that you can actually feel the history even if there is no meeting going on and I'm just there for a stroll around.

A truly special place and I for one am oh so pleased that the breakfst clubs are such a success as I'm sure that the circuit needs as much support as it can get, plus I cannot think of a better way of spending a lazy sunday morning! biggrin

I do, and have done since I had a sit-down breakfast. I was trying to say that I'd happily pay the extra if the food was as good as promised.

Well said Mr L1OONYY
My first Breakfast club to see the Tax Exempt offerings.
A warm freshly fried sit down breakfast outside on a March morning in Sussex is a bit of a call at any price, anyone paying upwards of £12? Seriously needs their business accumen studying.
Now a freshly fried egg and bacon roll from the Naafi and a real coffee from the little wagon was yum yum and no more than a motorway services. I expected to spend a tenner and, as the venue is free with all its atmosphere I got a bargain.
Can't see whats clever in bumbling in with a non-tax exempt 4x4 and parking up with the exhibits though.

As I started this thread I may as well add a postscript to it.

Couldn't agree more with your comments guys. Both Brooklands and Goodwood are very special places.

The Breakfast club had a great feeling in the early stages last year but did suffer by being to a limited extent a victim of its own success. Three options - either limit it to GRRC members, or charge, or leave it alone but manage it better.

I would admit that the appeal for me has diminished knowing that the hordes will decend and unless my car qualifies and I get there at crack of dawn and am lucky with the draw I am lumped along with everyone else. The reason why this rankles a little is that I have been a GRRC member for 10 years but can't get better treatment than a chav who has turned up in a trevved saxo. Call me a snob or toff or whatever you like but could us GRRC types not at least have our own parking area? Or is this too non-inclusive and un-PC ?

If not then Goodwood runs the risk of a lot of it's own GRRC members not turning up because they have been overrun by everyone else.

I await the slings and arrows shoot

The right event will mean the right crowd but as for no crowding....where can you go these days without a crowd.

Not sure how long they have been going, but I've been going for 3 years. They are massive now compared to the first ones I attended, but they are a breakfast club meet. So I just keep getting up earlier and leaving earlier! I've never had a problem with the food I go to the NAAFI truck and have always been lucky to get into the relevent theme (again this may be because I get there so early) or have been directed to car parks within the race circuit.

The more people turn up the better cars we will see, but there may come a point when it is a victim of its own success. For a free event it's fantastic long may it continue to be just what it is. People with an interest in cars turning up having a chat and then going home, end of.

yes

I still have no idea as to why there is no seperate GRRC parking at the breakfast club meets I can only think that perhaps that they are trying to make it a non exclusive event with a more relaxed atmosphere than the Revival et al?

I really do think that there should be a GRRC parking area though as one had to park in a grassy field last time and one was not impressed! tongue out

As they have now taken to using the start/finish for the themed display you could ask if the gravel area could be used for members parking.

It would be nice to have a PH parking area ,would always have a good selection of cars to view

I think on the pre-registration form they ask for any ideas , so how about if we all register and ask if it would be possible for a PH parking zone .
