Blimey that was quick!! Thanks all.

Ben, yes it's non standard - it's a Launch Edition car but Lotus v kindly agreed to a one off thumbup
You know Scott at Bell & Colvill I would think? He designed and project managed it for me - it's based on the T49 pre fag advertising car that Jim Clark drove in the 1967/68 season, just before he was killed at Hockenheim. 40 years ago this year coincidentally frown

I was parked on the pit straight too. I later found out you went on there if you were the 1st example of that particular model...
What time did you get there to be 'First of Class' and do you have one of those little 'Display Boards' that you place in front of your car???

Dave
I arrrived at about 8.10am in my (white!) Porsche Cayman, just after a Morgan +8, and we were both directed to the grid. A TR8 (running very rich!) was the next one to slot in.

SS7
So I suppose it is pot luck then when you arrive. Just turn in to the main entrance and let the marshalls direct you left or right. They must keep a record of what cars they have let through. I can't make May but I will get there early in June. I don't suppose there will be many Phoenix red Jag XKR's with full Arden body kit and Brembo's.

Hi Did anyone get a picture of the yellow Bosxter S in the grid line up? It's in the background of this shot... Perhaps it wasn't interesting enough. Thought I'd ask anyway??

I setup a Flickr Goodwood Breakfast Club group a short while back.

Some of the photos on there may help. Page two onwards I think.

Stephanie - were you out and about near Chiddingfold/Petworth area today as I could have sworn I passed a 2-11 in this livery around 12.15pm or so? Superb looking car.

Yep that was me - thanks for the compliment biggrin I was taking advantage of some decent weather to get some miles on it before a track evening at Brands next week.

Should have dropped by - I live very near Chidd. I was tempted to get the red beastie out today, so I could have used some persuasion.

I noticed in a couple of photos that some of the cars on the track had details printed on boards in front of them.

I would not be happy if this is the way the breakfast club is going. For me it was about turning up and displaying your car if it fitted the bill. It seems to be developing into something else and has got too large for its own good.

Hi John, Why would you not be happy? We have always invited a small selection of cars which we feel best represent the theme and placed a plaque in front to give an overview of the car and explain why it fits the theme. Not everyone who turns up on the day knows a huge ammount about cars. I'd be interested what everyone else thinks about this...

From the GRRC database or the competitions department database. Failing that, local specialist and mainstream dealers.

Hope this helps.

If you read the earlier posts, at every Breakfast Club now there are some invited cars that are more or less the epitome (according to the organisers) of that months theme. Hence, they get a spot on the start-finish straight and a little board in front of them.

The rest of the spaces on the straight are filled from the first examples of particular cars that come through the gates. They don't get a little sign. Everyone who goes into the paddock, doesn't get a little sign.

It's not a change in how things are done (they had them last year) it's merely (to my mind) a way of saying thank you to people who they have invited. Of course, there are people who put their own out as well.

I don't think it ever has been solely about turning up and displaying your car. It's about turning up, having some breakfast, a chat with some like minded people and a hoon home. The fact there were some nice cars to look at as well was a bonus. I must say, I don't think it has developed into anything else, the organisation has just been tweaked to accommodate the extra numbers that now turn up.

More power to Goodwood in my book for putting up with the grief they must get from every event (yeah yeah, they make the money on food etc, but I for one don't begrudge that one bit). It would be so easy to charge and kill the event or leave it unmarshalled and have it turn into a Wadhurst-esq free for all.
