James, I'd like to know how you locate said owners.
From the GRRC database or the competitions department database. Failing that, local specialist and mainstream dealers.

Hope this helps.

Yes thanks James. This of course alienates the rest of us from the choice bucket - remember there are many superb examples of motors out there apart from those in GRRC members hands! How about using the online Breakfast Club pre-registration to add to the bucket of choice for future meetings?

The GRRC register is a very detailed document and not only lists the make and model of the car but also its condition and many other aspects and details of the car. I run the GRRC, not the Breakfast Club, and have been asked by that department to provide the cars for the day. Many people don't register until 2-3 days before which could leave some gaps and we draw up a specific list of cars for each event months beforehand, thus ensuring that the featured cars are in place and in the best possible condition. We don't want to alienate anyone, indeed, many GRRC Members are asking for their own parking and other privileges at the event, which we will not introduce as this will alienate the non-members.. I think this is a classic case of not being able to please all of the people all of the time.

The feedback we receive from the questionnaires completed on the day and gathered from forums such as this is extremely valuable and suggests that the format is spot-on and it's the food which we need to concentrate on getting sorted. I can assure you that we are working very hard on this and hope that future events will provide warmer, dryer weather for you all to enjoy your freshly cooked, warm breakfast.. It's tricky to keep a plate of food warm in the open with a 20mph wind and freezing temperatures!

Hope this answers your questions,
J

So long as you don't change anything at the Naafi Wagon. smile That is just fine as it is - Good food at reasonable prices.

If it ain't broke...

Only thing that's changing with the Naafi is its location. Due to some major works on the GOODWOOD hangars, the Naafi will now be located in between paddock bay 1 and paddock bay 2. The lovely Julie will still be frying away for all to enjoy.. Don't worry!

Like I said your way still provides for a limited selection of cars but I understand the difficulty your side James. smile

Thanks for being open enough to step up to the plate as spokesperson here.

Good response James, I agree that the format is spot on. Considering this is a FREE event, I don't think anyone can complain about how Goodwood choose the cars on the grid. There are always complaints here about how cars are selected for the paddock, how the marshalls on the gate get it wrong, but it's not that big a deal. If anyone is that keen to be 'invited' then the answer is to join the GRRC and add themselves to the data base. Personally I'm not that bothered, it's nice to get in the paddock but I don't have anything special and I'm really there for the drive down and back, to see the cars and enjoy the atmosphere.

GRRC members are often long term supporters of Goodwood and I wouldn't begrudge them some favours above those who turn up, argue at the gate, complain about the price of food and leave!

Agreed. I have been going to the BC for some years now and although I have noticed an increase in numbers of attendees, it still generally represents a really fun morning out. Not only are the location and roads down superb, but the cars on show are generally more varied than most motor shows, you can get far closer, speak to the owners, and generally have a good petrolhead experience. Yes, the breakfasts are £12, but no one is forcing anyone to eat there with the other choices around. Having been to more than my fair share of "motor shows" which charge a fortune to get in and still keep you yards away from most of the cars, I don't honestly think there is anything we should moan about. And yes, I am a GRRC member, but my opinion was the same when I wasn't one.
