Goodwood Sprint this Saturday
Discussion
Hi,
It was an interesting day and I certainly learned a lot. I only mangaged the one timed run as I was in the next batch to go out after the MX-5. So I have now done one lap of Goodwood as a passanger and three laps driving
Had a few dramas - my hotel booking was messed up the night before and I had to find another hotel at 10pm. I also discovered that my helmet (Shoei Raid that I have been using for track days and non MSA events without issue) didn't comply with the regs. Apparently it is approved for Motorcyle racing (ACU gold), but not car racing Luckily, the nice chap with the radical who won his class let me borrow his helmet.
It's a shame that the day was cancelled as I was all geared up to go after the Audi quattro's time and try and get first place out of the HSA entrants in my class. After the first run I had managed a 110.01 and the Quattro had done a 107.73. Glad that you are ok Dave - that roll bar almost definitely saved you! As it was I got second out of the three HSA entrants and managed to beat a couple of Cooper S Works Mini's, so I am pretty chuffed.
I was amazed at the speed of the circuit - without really knowing where I was going I managed about 115 down the back straight that's a bit bent. I found that a gentle four wheel drift round a couple of the corners seemed to be the fastest way for my car to take the corners, and was also great fun
All in all a great day - can't wait for my next event at Abingdon

I was there too, parked a couple of pits up from you. Shame it finished early but glad to hear Mazdave is ok after his 'off'. My next event isn't till the two day meeting at Prescott. Really looking forward that after doing it last year and had gearbox trouble with it jumping out of second and having to drive one-handed holding it in gear. Fixed now so should get better times.
