No doubt they will just think your a 'pimp my ride' Vauxhall !!
Your probably right on that one as last time I ended up in a field down the road laugh
Seems their idea of what constitutes an interesting/fast/rare car is somewhat skued. I was waved into the carpark on the right in a 118d!! rolleyes

So what's the format? Will I have to park my GT2 somewhere particular? Are there any Veyrons about?

Do we know what the guys at goodwood class as "supercars" and will be allowing into the paddock? I know when I spoke with James (from Goodwood) earlier in the year he said that most Porsches don't fit in that class, so I'm assuming it will only be the real exotic stuff????? Lambo, ferrari etc!

Interesting comment about most Porsches being diverted...can understand the GT2/3 and CGT's being on a pedestal, but struggle to see why top end late air-cooled Porkers are any less a super car than say a 355....

Going for it anyway, see you there.

Probably not the place, but IMHO a supercar should be 2 seater, mid engined. Probably V12, probably Italian. The Miura was the first supercar, Setright coined the phrase to describe it so I guess you'd have to ask him (bit difficult)

911 = sports car
LC = Supersaloon
599 = GT

etc. I'm not saying these cars are inferior at all, I love 911's and LC's and the 599 is my favourite modern ferrari (better then the enzo IMHO) but just that they are not supercars. The car park is quite small, I doubt they will have much trouble filling it so can be quite selective. It's not like you have to park in a field 16 miles away if they don't let you in you get to use the paddock! You get to drive under the tunnel, and it's closer to the food!

IMO >190mph = supercar
<190mph = creampuff.

Varsas, may or may not have been directed in my direction but you've actually written above as if i'm actually bothered where I park. TBH i'm not, as I said I don't expect to park in the main section as, like you say, the schoolboy definition of a supercar means a 4 door saloon doesn't fit the bill. I'm just looking forward to driving down in my own car (whatever that may be), parking up and having a gander at some spectacular machinery with some friends. smile

People take this parking thing way too seriously IMO, and anyhow if your like me you spend time looking around the whole area and not just the main dispay then who gives a stuff where cars get directed to. thumbup

Sorry, not my intention at all, just wondered what other people thought of as a supercar, really. I've never parked in the 'special area' even when I was in a suitible car; as I said I like the paddocks and that's definatly where I'll be on Sunday (not that i'll have a choice in this case!). I'll look for your car! (and the SM!)

Should be there in my '60 Healey 3000 - meeting a friend who is hoping to bring his Z1. (Neither I particularly supercar but then I don't mind parking outside smile )

Will be travelling down from Alton in Hampshire (via Petersfield/Midhurst) if anyone fancies travelling down in convoy then pop me an email to tim@timcrighton.comsmile

Since they stopped using the gravel area, entrance to the main straight and the paddock are by selection only.
If you fail the selection you will be in the CP to the right of the entrance and if that is full then down the road in the field.

Steve

PS Hoping to get selected. Ultima GTR.

I'll be there. Coming up from Portsmouth way. Have started a topic on the South Coast Forum for a meet up at the Shell Garage in Farlington at the top of thr Eastern Road at 08.00hours. If anyone else is coming from that direction feel free to join us. Only about a 20 mile trip but should be good. Jim
Thats just round the corner from me. I used to drive upto the M25/A3 services to meet other PH and then drive down through Guildford on the back roads.

Cheers, I'll see if the TVR boys will let me join in with them and meet them in Guildford as its a Nice long drive out. If not then I'll probably join you with an Elise and maybe another Noble.
