I feared for my £450 front splitter (yes what a rip off for a bit of plastic from Subaru / Prodrive) in the so called 'Public Car Park' Could have been an expensive free morning out. Would be good if they used their brains with regard everyone leaving at approx the same time too, total gridlock.

Otherwise still good for free haha.

there were a lot of 'supercars' turned away today (about 8.45) when we got there at the gate, and told to park in the grassey bit down the road.
so i thought it was going to full of lambo's etc. a bit disapointed.
I was there at 7:45am and parked in the hard parking area, there was a group of about 15 of us, all Lotus, elise or Exige. Also in the hard standing carpark there were 997 turbos....very strange today.

You have to remember that the cars which turn up are privately owned, so the organisers have little or no communication with prospective displayers until they turn up at the gates. Sometimes, like today, the chance of a drop of rain scares the owners into leaving their precious toys in under their breathable fitted covers and don't show up at all.
The show cars that do make it down don't all arrive at 5:30AM to allow the marshals a couple of hours 'shuffle time', but get there when the the owners decide.
By then it is of course possible that someone else may have got out of bed 30 minutes earlier and had a parking space for their car allocated.

The Goodwood Website have a link for people to pre-register, I did this and heard nothing back! Perhaps in future pre-registering is the way forward as this will give the guys at Goodwood a head start?

Today could have been called "Italian Exotica" or "TVR - Come on In" because nothing else really got a look in. Very odd displays, the Jag XJ220 got demoted to the gravel when we could have had a great photo of 2 together. Every single Fezza and TVR got in. As much as I'd like an Audi RS4, it's not a supercar by any stretch of the imagination. Meanwhile at least one Porsche GT2 got pushed to the public field parking, whilst an S2000 got on display. Go figure!

Let's face it, not many of the real supercars appeared, due to the weather I guess. An interesting morning, but not the best by a long way.

yep, we got there around 8:45 and it was almost gridlock traffic so everyone was being turned away for a while it seemed, I tried to get in but ended up in the field, didn't feel too bad as an F40 seemed to be turned away at the same time....so they must have been full up then.... but later stuff was let in again. Did seem a bit low on top end stuff. But still a good free day out.

I thought it was alright today, shame the Veyrons & Zondas didn't seem to like a drop of the wet stuff. Have to say I agree totally with some of the comments abou the choices on the pit straight and infield, very strange.

Nice to see nearly all the NSXs in the UK turn up again, those guys are loyal. Good to have a look over the Skyline and I've got to say I don't like it, I thought it was huge in real life. The 370z was interesting, looks to me like reasonable value for money. Didn't like the California either again just too big.
Surprised to not see an Evora or an Audi R8 V10 as I know that some dealers local to Goodwood have demos.

Still good day out and the weather wasn't that bad.smile

Welcome to PH wavey

When we had a look most of the stickers were sold out.

Often interesting stuff in the public car park as well as nearer the track. Tisn't all Euroboxes paperbag

In my opinion there were lots of nice cars there this morning but not many really top end supercars. I guess the weather spoilt it a little. I only just about got on the track in my Porsche GT2 but my dad following in his 993 turbo got put in the car park. Strange really when some of the cars on the track were certainly not supercars.

A great day out today for sure and obviously very popular.

My car was one of the cars that was on the track which I would not consider to be a 'supercar' in the accepted sense i.e not mid-engined and not Italian however my car would certainly be considered rare over here given there are only 100 or so and I have only ever seen one other on the road. Maybe this is why the marshalls stuck it out on track regarding it is an 'interesting car' if not a 'supercar'

Mind you it's still got a 5.7 V8 pushing out well over 400bhp which is pretty 'super' to me!

For me the 'missing magic' apart not as many 'shiny' (due to the weather) exotica was the distinct lack of noise. After several years of these car shows, I'm getting 'fatigued' just looking at these cars parked. At a recent Auto Italia Event at Brooklands, not only did we have the hillclimb but lots of 'musical chairs' of cars moving around and revving.

Not sure how easy it would be for the goodwood organisers to integrate some kind of show laps?

PS: Previous years, I noticed lots more revving going on generally, maybe it was just the weather....or maybe fewer loud cars today...

I was incredibly suprised and impressed when the guys on the gate, and then the chap on the track straight, considered my car worthy of display. It's fun, pretty unique, and just to confirm it is not and will never be a supercar, but this is where I was directed by Goodwood marshalls.

I'm guessing they had to make some sort of decision based on the mornings weird and changeable weather what cars to let in and who to send where. If they'd only let in Ferraris & Porches it would have been a very dull display, as most 911 variants, 360's etc do look alike, surely the variety of all makes is what makes it more interesting.

I think it's fair to presume most Koenigseggggg, Lambo, Zonda, F1 and Veyron owners were hesitant due to the horendous rain that morning, so it's really just bad luck that most didn't show. I still thought it was a lovely morning, never seen so many Fezzas in one place, and for a free entry event with available parking certainly nothing to complain about... (unless you just love a winge wink)

Have to agree, it's the first one I've been to, and while the pit lane wasn't exactly consistent with the theme, there were lots of lovely cars about and the whole thing had a nice atmosphere.

I think I won the 'Skankiest Car in the Paddock' award, I managed to blag in behind the old man in his 430 in the GTS replete with dents, kerbed wheels, flaking lacquer and a corroded petrol cap

I think the 'who goes where' decision process was difficult from the start as it was far from clear if any of the top supercars would venture out when it was heavy rain through most of the night.
Another factor in the grid 'mix' was the number of cars that moved off early and were replaced pretty much with what came through the gate next.
I left at 11.30 but had had 5 different cars parked beside me (Yellow Ultima) during the morning.

I saw a red 911 boot it past the long queue heading the other way, after the roundabout by Rolls Royce, just at the crest of the hill.
