Mate and I are going to Goodwood next month. Neither of us have been - I'm looking for advice about the best way to travel there. Drive or train? It'll be a Sunday event.

Driving and aim to get there early to beat the traffic and have a look round the show before the crowd gets big. I always aim to be in the car park by about 6:30am.
Hope you have a good time!

not so sure, quite a few PH'ers have used this service in the past

Think the general idea is the airfield is a very short hop from GW, hence relatively inexpensive for the amount of grief it saves you in Q's etc

The whole area tends to get snarled-up, so getting to the airfield/circuit might be just as difficult as getting to the House.

Get there early.

I was being serious, I've used it in previous years. Your right, it does save all the faff of getting away and its far enough away from the house to make it no hassle at all as far as getting to and from the airfield are concerned. I did it a couple of years back and it cost about 100 quid all in. We got a free helicopter trip over the site during the festival chucked in as well, which was an awesome experience.

That was each, there were 5 of us. I used the one that goes from Shoreham. Although I now see that I was getting a cracking deal and mates rates cos I knew the guy who was doing the flying bit. I've been looking around for quotes for the BGP heli shuttle. I've been quoted about 500 quid for just the Sunday. I still think there would be a deal to be done with sufficient numbers though.

I think it'd be worth talking to the helicopter charterers to see what deal could be offered if a load of PH'ers wanted to arrive in style. It'd be a good way to add to the event and also get more PH'ers to maybe attend the event who may have been put off by traffic nonsense.
