FOS 2009 - Pics and Stories

I went for the saturday, awesome day out, definitely need to go for longer than a day to see everything though. Next time I will have to camp and er remember the stupid camera battery that you have to remove to charge!!! Doh!
(managed to get a few dodgy camera phone shots )
Hard to pick a favourite car of the day, just brilliant to see and hear so many legends out on the track.
Timo Glock was a good croud pleaser with the burnouts

Had a fantastic treat right at the end of the day on Friday at around 3:50 just as the Red Arrows display was finishing. Just left the show via the exit at the bottom of the climb where the cars turn round and three F1 cars show up. Each one comes to a halt & completes a half doughnut to get pointing the right way up the hill with the exception of the Toyota who (apologies but did not know who was driving it F1 not being my thing) did a complete extra 360 doughnut for us.............
Top Bloke and was a nice end to the day
Timo Glock! He was fantastic the whole day, even when they were ushering him in he was still trying to get another burnout in!Top Bloke and was a nice end to the day

Lots of weird, odd smelling people with expensive looking cameras this year - one of them got upset when I stuck my head in an engine bay just as he was taking a picture. I ignored him. Sorry, but I like getting up close and personal with the machinery on show, and no - I'm not getting out of your way just so you can take a picture...you weirdo
I don't mind keeping back occasionally, but when every car has a bunch of social misfits staring through lenses it gets a bit annoying.

Weirdo... thats not weirdo.I was with a friend and his wife nosing round a few Jaguars. My friends wife was stood watching the cars lining up to get out to the track and she became aware of a man a bit too close.Next she felt some thing cold touch her leg and looked down and this f..kin perv has his camera up her short skirt, taking pics.... he then legged it before we came over to find out what was going on.
Hes a lucky Man.......

It's like yesterday. I was watching the Supercars with my 8 year old son. This lady came up behind my son, leans on him, holds out her camera and takes a pic, not one but about five. I nearly lost it.
If you want people free pics take them early! You can blame people for being in the way when there is so little time..
A few more pics

Just further to one of my earlier posts, did anyone see the Life run? And if it did, as anyone got any pics?
Ta muchly in advance.
Not sure if it actually run, but it amazingly if had the original W12 fitted! and had spare engine on display...see exhibit ATa muchly in advance.
and just a couple more..
Another amazing FoS, so many things to see, lots of stories and we managed to sign up quite a few new members to The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club on our stand.
We managed to get loads of drivers autographs, see some great cars, get up close (not personal) with Derek Bell, Damon Hill, Jochen Mass and Lord March.
The weekend was marred by someone nicking £70 of floral displays that were on our stand before I could get the support vehicle back in the gate to collect them. As I paid for them out of my own pocket I'm pretty miffed.

It never made it out of prequalifying, I don't think it ever actually completed a flying lap with the W12 in it and when it did do a flying lap with the Judd in it, it was slower than a F3 car of the time. Gloriously useless.
I just love crap F1 cars, so much more of a story to tell. The Stanley BRM 207, too big to fit on the plane to fly it to its first GP; The Arrows A2 "doodlebug" with its great in a straight line, crap round corners aerodynamics; The AGS JH21, a four year old Renault tub with an untried turbo V6 stuck in the back; the Ligier JS31 "woblin goblin" fuel tank at the back car, looked incredible handled like a cow trying to juggle plates; the Coloni-Subaru with its 16 tonne engine; the Footwork with its Porsche engine that was rumoured to be two TAG turbos superglued together (without the turbos obv) ; the Andrea Moda but you ain't seen that.... right??
All of them true heroic failures.

Did anyone else get stopped on the way back to the car park, just before the Red Arrows stopped. You know when people tried to walk back to the Bus stop or Car, but metal fences were to stop people carrying on there walk back.
Other then that, when this happened it felt like sheep herding.
The reason for the stop at the carparks during the air display is down to air show H&S regulations. It's a small price to pay for having such amazing displays I think.Other then that, when this happened it felt like sheep herding.
