I didn't know there were speed cameras on the long straight out of Petworth (Station Road). I've just received a fixed penalty notice on a previously clean licence - picked up on the way to the Festival of Speed.

Great work from the Police - roughly running pace over the speed limit.

What day was that I was going the other way on Friday - in a hurry!

My sat nav indicates the road as a speed camera area

There isn't normally

The filth must have taken the French method of hiding in a bush with a hairdryer to raise some more revenue. In all honsty though roads are pretty chocka on FOS weekend so suprised you got nabbed.

There was a scamera van on the south side of Petworth on Saturday morning. Also a copper in Chiddingfold with a hair drier at the end of the green.

I spotted them in Chiddingfold - but not Petworth.

Sod all to do with safety (as their NIP drones on about), everything to do with cash - which is why they were present on the route to Goodwood.

Seriously unimpressed.

Goodbye clean license.

What time of day did you drive in? I did a dawn raid each morning arriving about 7.15am and was travelling with some vigour - never saw anyone but my dad did see someone getting pulled over on Sunday evening.

They've targetted Breakfast Club days as well in Petworth. furious

I was nabbed at 07:51 on a Sunday morning, heading towards and nearly at the NSL signs. mad

The operator's statement noted that he had set up at 07:30 and that he had packed up and gone by 09:00. Clearly Petworth is an accident blackspot at that time on a Sunday, and this in no way was a blatent targetting of those that might be heading towards Goodwood. furiousfurious

9.25 Saturday morning.

I live very close to Chiddingfold, have done for over 20 years - and I know Petworth extremely well too. I can't remember the last accident on this road.

It's a real pi55 boiler to see the wasted resource of Police lining the route to Goodwood and does nothing but further alienate motorists. Folks going to Goodwood are almost exclusively law abiding citizens driving decent, taxed and insured cars.

They can't be arsed to come out for a burglary, but have their hands out on the roadside.

yesMust be like shooting fish in a barrel for them. rolleyes

The camera van that got me was so well hidden that I'd no idea I'd been zapped until the NIP arrived. Looks like they had hidden the van on the hard standing to the left of the road beside the fire station so the wall behind made it invisible to southbound traffic.

That's where I must have been caught too.

Thanks - can see where it was. I assume a mobile cashpoint, it wasn't easy to tell from their information.
