I don't assume that a crash implies no talent.

What I see there is a shame, but nothing that cannot be fixed with a generous application of hammers.

The crash is on youtube. I'm sure the heritage centre will work their magic...

Was gutted when I saw it mashed up.

I was stood on the corner as it happened - he was actually pretty unlucky, touched the grass and over corrected slightly.
I did groan as it hit front and back, but as my road rally driver managed to throw a Mk1 into a telegraph pole at 30mph and repair it, I knew it wasn't going to write FEV off

That's a pity and I don't know much about these cars, but I suspect if it has any sort of real competition history, it's probably seen a lot worse in it's lifetime? Besides, better to see these historical machines still actually being used at the risk of meeting the scenery as opposed to being rolled gently off of a trailer with white gloves onto the scenery like we tend to do here in the US!

Great shame, but I think the risk is worth taking. I'd rather see these cars get some use, than being tucked away in a shed.

Aye a great shame, but it is only a historic re-creation not the original, original. Built to be raced on Sunday, repaired on Monday.

Given your little hint there, and also your choice of words in your first post, I'm going to venture a guess that the Hamster managed to have himself another accident.

This is far from an RIP situation , I've seen enough old Fords resurrected from worse condition , it still has the a , b and c posts in the original orientation and the front bulkhead is fine , this is minor , this could be turned around in a week.

This is actually mentioned in the current Top Gear magazine as it was one of their guys that did it, not one of the TV presenters but one of the staff writers. Apparently the car is a recreation by Ford specifically for giving people such as himself a taste of the original but he was mortified nonetheless.

True to form the Ford Heritage workshop has worked its magic (which in this case consisted of farming the work out to Webster and Lancaster - thanks Scott for a great job) and H1 FEV lives again. It can be seen being taken for a spin by Mikko Hirvonen during his recent visit to Dagenham - http://tinyurl.com/yabf7zm
