Revival Just too busy did they sell more tickets this year ?

Well I may be the only one but I really didnt enjoy the reviaval this year, just way too busy.
We have been going since it started but this year was just hell. Couldnt walk anywhere just crowds upon crowds.
We left at 2pm as we just couldnt stand it any more a great waste of £200, a real shame as it was our favourite event of the year. Just seems a bit over comercialised and way too many people.
Certainly wouldnt go again to either the revival or the FOS again, maybee just breakfast clubs and track days from now on a real shame as I really used to love Goodwood

My first year - perhaps I was one of the people getting under your feet?
What an absolutely amazing event, got dressed up and thoroughly loved how un-PC and 'elf and safety concious it all is. Where else can you watch like a schoolboy as a Spitfire lands feet away from you after being about 50 feet above you. Went Saturday - total sensory overload. Amazing.
Next year it will be a weekend ticket hopefully.

I have taken to going on the friday- had an absolute cracking day with no associated crowds of the Sat or Sun; walking around the track we got some excellent viewing points, it means a day off work but well worth not giving it up if the crowding is not for you. To and from the event on Friday was no issue with no waiting for me, although noted it was bad for some in other threads...
I thought it was busier too, but spent the whole Sunday around the 'back' of the circuit and it was quieter around there, but less 'atmosphere'. Perfect if you just want to see the racing.
The other thing that I think made it feel busy was the fact there seems to be more and more hospitality tents everywhere, so there's less room to move around, it seems. (eg the new tent in the paddock area)

Shame if its going the way of the FoS, too much emphasis on the corporate not enough thought for the honest money paying public. The early days for both events were great I went to the first few FoS and again last year and its not the same event. Good if you've never been before and know no different, but a shadow of its concept, too much elf and safetee has killed it too.

I haven't been to the Revival for a number of years for those reasons too - plus the fact if you go too frequently you can get a bit jaded - no matter how well run and interesting an event is.Friday actually seemed less busy and 'corporate' than any time in the last 6 years that I've been going. Sunday was just the same in terms of crowds as ever imo, although at no time were the Lavant Grandstands more than 75% full.
The loss of quality spectating area at the end of Lavant straight because of the aviation exclusion zone is a shame but at least gatting around the closure during displays was easier this year. Public paddock access was further reduced this year, it wouldn't be too difficult to make the entire paddock open for enthusiasts on Friday -how about it?
My chief gripe is the lack of control of the schedule that saw the Whitsun Trophy taking place too late for me to stay and see it. Should be re-scheduled in future as after the TT it's the most important Sunday race. Neither the Glover or the Whitsun should be allowed to be affected by over-run.
All the Rule Britannia stuff and the Artillery salute was nice (well at least the Artillery) but not what I paid to see. Neither was I impressed at the over fawning welcome to Buzz Aldrin! Can Lord M do his glad-handing on his own time in future.

Yep serious problems for me to keep patronising this event - felt that they had spread the butter too thin!
I could quite easly rant for a while on just how wrong they got it this time and I'm a big fan of them.
Fist time ever I came away feeling it was not worth it.

I'm sure you read these comments so an advanced warning that your two bookings for March enclosure tickets are looking very doubtful for next year.
For me the event and hotels etc cost around £2k for the weekend which I have in the past been happy to pay.
This year I dont feel that I got value for money and will be adding similar but more detailed comments to the feedback request when it arrives.
It must of taken a lot of organising and most of it was fantastic, but to defrentiate from other events you need to get it more than just 'OK'

Anyone that left early would be cutting off their nose to spite their face in my opinion. It was my first revival for a few years and was also surprised by how it had grown. But the quality of the racing was exceptional - at the end of the Formula Junior race the gentlemen next to me turned and said 'that was worth the entry fee alone' and I wouldn't disagree.
If you're prepared to walk round the circuit you will find excellent viewing, often with a screen in sight. Yes, you have to share the banks with more people than before but it is still a unique experience imho.

Did seem much more busy this time, especially round the back of the circuit- very little standing room at Lavant corner on Saturday or Sunday. My issue, however, was with the Restaurant, which used to be run by Green's, but which appears to have been taken inhouse under the name 'Richmond (?) Catering' I always take Mrs Worpdrive on the Friday, as she's not very interested in racing but loves the atmosphere and the dressing up (and very stylish she looks.....) As usual we booked in the restaurant, arrived at noon and were told that there was no booking for us (made four hours earlier). They decently let us have a table, and we ordered wine and looked at the menu. Now I don't object in principle to £32.50 for two courses- bit steeper than Green's last year, but this is the Revival, so bring it on..... We both ordered smoked salmon and then fishcakes- the smoked salmon arrived, the only thing lacking was the microscope necessary to see it- not worth £0.75, let alone £7.50. Fishcakes turned out to be one fishcake and a bit of rocket, not bad but definitely not worth £25.....At least we did better than the large German chap on the next table, who was ill advised enough to order the soup. The expression on his face when the thimble-full arrived was painful to behold, he kept looking towards the kitchen area to see when the rest of it was coming. The house wine when it did arrive after 20 mins, was pretty ordinary and was the only white by the glass- IMHO house wine is a matter of pride for any good restaurant.
We made our feelings known to front of house and got the distinct impression that we were not the only unhappy campers in the place- he suggested that we post our view on the GRRC website, as it is their first year and they welcome feedback. Perhaps I'm being Mr Picky, but I do think that 'Head of Portion Control' has got it a bit wrong, and that if they are going to take it inhouse (presumably to increase margins) they should split the take with the paying public rather than decrease the choice, the helpings and the quality....
However, rant over, apart from the general cost of everything you can't fault the event- unique atmosphere, stunning cars, marvellous racing and a wonderful day out- what about that Vulcan????

I spoilt myself this year by doing the March enclosure, which meant I was somewhat shielded from the general goings on around the track. There did seem to be a lot more people on the banks around the track this year, especialy on the Saturday. I also think a lot more people went the extra mile and dressed in period atire this year, which was great to see. Personaly I don't mind if it's busy at the revival because it's so much more laid back and people tend to be more polite than say at a British GP, where you get shoved and trodden on with nothing more than a glare if you dare to say anything about it.
