I'm assuming that it was lord March's sister singing again this year, in particular Happy Birthday and Rule Brittania. We, and most of the rest of Madgewick corner others found it very amusing that the gun salute happened almost immediately at the end of Rule Britannia.....as if the singer had been executed.....

You would hope its some family tradition - perhaps Lord March's grandfathers wife/sister sung at the original meetings ?

Or its just to keep he quiet the rest of the year, hehe because a tuneful singer she ain't........

I don't think it's his sister - it was a black girl 'singing'.

It is!

I think his father re-married. I met her a few months ago in Hove. She's very nice but can't sing!

She had seen my Colin McRae sticker on my car and explained she was a friend of his.

As singers go she was probably fine in studio conditions but given the heady mix of Goodwood dust (did you see some of the outside exhibit cars on Sunday evening - covered in filth) , petrol and oil fumes mixed with aviation fuel all had a negative effect , I'm sure Lord March isn't tone deaf eek and also gave her the benefit of the doubt.

It was shocking! I was stood next to a pair of Tchermans at St Mary's/Lavant who turned to someone and asked "Who is she? Do they think that it's good singing?" biggrin

The 'execution' raised a giggle amongst the crowd too.

You're quite right - it was Nimmy March who was adopted by LM's parents I think.

She has the most utterly appaling singing voice I've ever heard, and usually finishes her songs at least two bars before the band.

People were just pissing themselves laughing where I was standing, it was an embarrasment, as it is every year.

Somebody put us out of her misery, please...

She's had a tough life though, bless:

That was the first time i took my radio out of my ear all weekend - i couldn't stand it!, why does she do it every year, £35 to hear an what sounded like a crow in a car compactor singing. What an awfull sound. Why oh why didn't they exucute her there and then - would of been better entertainment me thinks. eek

Sorry, she's obviously working her way through the entire Last Night of the Proms catalogue, having murdered 'Jerusalem' last year. Warning if Goodwood start doing open air music events!!!
Hope she can act better than she can sing.
Just because we're proles doesn't mean the aristocracy can keep abusing us like this on an annual basis - likely to start a revolution if Charly M isn't careful.

I thought we'd got away with this year it after a shattering but mercifully short 'Happy Birthday'.

I still remember the groans last year when she embarked on the 2nd verse of Jerusalem. Oh well, it is but a small price to pay for one of the best old car events anywhere in the world!

New TV programme and a book out too. Maybe it's time her singing career was laid to rest....

If she wants to sing in front of an audience cant she enter the X Factor. I'm sure Simon Cowell will have a few words to exchange with her....I can now see why I take ear plugs.

Unfortunately that plus the rambling speeches (what idiot gave Mandleson yet more air time?) meant that subsequent races were about 30 mins late and the Vulcan display occurred whilst the RAC TT was still running. And as others have said... it's all bit self indulgent because unless you're sat in the start finish line you can't see what's happening and it's all a bit tedious.
