Revival - your favourite bits

Just to counter some of the negative (albeit perhaps justified) comments on here about the Revival, I thought we might share our favourite bits from the weekend.

I could have happily spent the entire weekend in the Pre '66 car park and it took us 1.1/2 hrs on Saturday to get from the car to the ticket gate because we had to walk through this ad-hoc display of the best of british metal (and fibreglass), although I'm sure we didn't see more than a quarter of the cars there.

I'm glad we made the effort though, the racing was fantastic.
The early 60's Grand Prix cars were just amazing, like my old Scalextric come to life.
And the bikes, what noise and proper, Black leathers, flat out, chins on tank, racing. Brilliant.

And pretty much at any time if you looked up there would be something wonderful flying around overhead.

Finally from me, "well done" to all the people who made the effort to get dressed in period. People watching really was a treat.

The bikes were always great, Formula Junior race was good too. RAC TT didn't quite top last year's but was seriously close between the Gounon/Rahal cars up until the pitstops.

And the Vulcan.. awesome!

Its just great to see people making an effort (costume) in this day and age isn't it ? I think the whole day is just fantastic , the variety of things to see , I took my 12yr old daughter knowing that she would enjoy quite a few aspects although she is not really into cars deeply. I think it was a little bit of a learning exercise for her , I now have to get some you tube stuff up and show her who Nicholas Lyndhurst , Murray Walker , Chris Rea etc actually are and what they have done now she has their autographs , she also has a much better appreciation of Spitfires , Vulcans and wartime dressage and its far more interesting than a stuffy museum.

I always enjoy the racing and seeing the drivers we grew up watching , but its something else to actually meet them (briefly), the event has definitely got bigger and more crowded , good to see there were more loos on site , thats quite basic but some events turn a blind eye don't they ? Generally walking about people were relaxed , friendly and enjoying their day , this event just has that feelgood factor.

Just like to add what a marvellously unassuming gentleman Emanuelle Pirro is. Seemed genuinely surprised that i wanted him to sign a photo -'what me?'
Sir Stirling is as great as ever and should be given a peerage this year (how do we start a campaign)
And thank you Maserati, Jaguar and Datsun for the gorgeous 'scenery' in the Earls Court arena!

Seeing the vintage race cars/bikes, often with famous drivers/riders, actually racing is what this event is all about for me. I thought that there were plenty of places to view the action and agree that the atmosphere was generally relaxed. Crowd watching was interesting too as the dressing up added a novel aspect to the event, even if it did border on fancy dress sometimes.

But for me the best bit had to be when I got to do a lap in the Ford GT40.

Ditto on what you say my friend. My Gf and I had a brilliant day, she had never been before and was totally shocked by it all. Its the kind of event that makes you feel proud to be British and it is humberling to see so many make a effort and get into the spirit of it all.

Some may complain but "give me Goodwood on a summers day and you can keep the rest of the world!"
