I wonder if it counts as a "zero emissions vehicle" in sme stupid EU regulation (ie; it's their version of the Aston Cygnet)

Peugeot Bikes, still popular in France but not so here - actually that MTB thing was available to buy in the UK in limited numbers but it sold out, seriously, I know as I work at the retailer!

You can still get a city bike if you want!

It reminds me of a Bomber, the next stage up from a Grifter, as a lad. For £5k, what a waste of money. This is far better, much more cooler, and you don't have to peddle, it runs on batteries, and it folds up !!!! :-) Yike Bike !!!

except for a few disadvantages, like:

  • it's slow (even compared to human power)
  • it'll handle like st
  • it looks like the retarded offspring of a dwarf's ordinary and darth vader's helmet
  • it's got a puny range
  • it's £1237 (probably before VAT/shipping etc) for the basic one
  • you don't have to "peddle". If you are able-bodied and so scared of physical exercise that you think this is an advantage on a sub 6-mile commute, I offer an acronym that will change your life.
Harden. The. F**k. Up.

That said, this and the porsche bike probably have similar audiences: those who only really need a cheap city bike to get to and from the shops twice a year (before it gets nicked because it was locked with £5 of nylon), but are prepared to spend silly amounts of money. Unlike real cyclists, who will actually use the bikes properly (and also are prepared to spend silly amounts of money, but slightly more of it is going on lycra).

Ahhh. That felt goood. Anyone got a ciggie?

Yes they do. Its sad.
Is it sad? Peugeot have a strong cycling tradition. I had a Pug bike before I even knew they made cars. Edited to add apparently the best works team ever to compete at Tour de Francw with 10 wins. Why throw that heritage away? Although arguably they have thrown their hot hatch heritage away anyway...

Well they make Apollos, so while they do make bikes, you wouldn't want one of those either.

Not a lot of bike for the money. But it may appeal if you have a couple if Porsche's in the garage & are not a regular cyclist. Something to show off to your Porsche mates, why not if money isnt an issue?!

You think that Porsche bike is bad? Check out this one:

(on display at their museum)

Some nice kit on it, but then spoiled by that massively heavy rear wheel/hub mechanism.

Clearly it's not aimed at roadies or MTBers or commuters, It's a bike for someone who loves the Porsche brand and just wants a 'generic bike'. Of course it's not very good at anything except being an expensive bike made by Porsche.

I'm sure some rich old bloke living in California or West Palm Beach wants one to match his car, just for a tootle around on. hehe

They SELL Apollos, which they pay some factory in the far east to build. They also sell Boardman bikes, and whilst they are also exclusively available via Halfrauds, they have a great reputation among cyclists. I would be surprised to find out that Halfords actually had ANY factories ANYWHERE making ANYTHING. The question is still valid. Knowing what you know of Halfords, if they where to build a car, or, as is more likely, sell an exclusive (re-badged) model from an unknown foreign manufacturer, would you be happy to take a punt? From what I've seen in the media regarding Bicycles badged and sold by Car Manufacturers, they are almost guaranteed to be expensive, vastly marked up versions of something you could buy from a Local Bike Shop, badged by a cycle-maker, and costing far less.

The cannondale scapel ultimate is a similar price, weighs less and comes with full suspension.
Ok, intended for a different audience - or at least intended for A audience.

The top end of Halfords Carrera range also tends to offer pretty good value for money.
I've had both Carrera and Boardman bikes (bought second hand) and been pleased with both for the money spent.

I prefer the idea of mid-driven electric push bikes for fun off-road, but it seems hub drive ones can still be pretty good fun.

Didn't a McClaren suspension designer come up with rear suspension design/geometry the minimised bobbing?
There must be some useful cross over between cars and bikes, but not on the one Porsche have come up with.

I'm a keen cyclist doing several thousand miles a year mostly on a carbon road bike. This Porsche bike is a " lifestyle enhancer", something to show off a bit with by pointing at the Porsche logo on it and saying in a loud voice " it cost me £5000 don't you know ".
It isn't a road bike, it isn't a mountain bike, it's a hybrid of which there are many to choose from if that's what you need. The bike looks like a £1500 bike with an extra £3500 for the badge.
Happy cycling though to anyone who feels the need to buy one.

I am not so keen on it. I also echo some of the other poster's sentiments on here in that it's not clear what this bike is meant to be. Not a road bike or mountain bike - closest match would be a hybrid.

Bikes from traditional manufacturers for about £1500-2000 would probably get you a better bike with a tried and tested group-set and geometry.

Occasional cyclists might like the bike for some 'kudos' but I am sure cycling aficionados would opt for a bike from the mainstream companies.

McLaren on the other hand did some pretty trick triathlon/time trial bikes - I think JB used one. Does anyone have a link or picture?

The McLaren bike was very nice smile

Stunning thing.

I ride a Quintana Roo Kilo, and have always had a 'thing' for aero bikes.

My all-time dream would be have a Boardman Lotus bike. I'd just hang it on the wall and look at it.
