Got my invoice in the post today for my new race bike, which means that they have started building it, which means I will have it next week.
The bike coming is this here
I have specced these wheels here
It is coming with Continental Competition tubs and Ultegra carbon pedals.
I have trained and trained and trained, my numbers are good and have many entries in - just bring it on this summer!

Thank-you, first race, if entry gets accepted, will be a warm up crit at Hog Hill on April 8th.
The serious stuff starts April 20th, first track league meet followed by April 22nd 56 miler 3,4's road race around the Old Warden circuit near Bedford.
You never know how you will be until you actually start racing, always those doubts are in your mind. It should be fine once the pedals start turning.

I think for the racing that the people on these forums do comfort really does come down the bottom of the list for choosing a bike.
If you really are going for it I'd always give up a bit of pain for a better position, adrenaline will take you through. A training bike is totally different, it has to take the rough roads for hour after hour.
In 1984 I spent a massive amount of wedge on a 753 road race bike - it was superb at putting power down compared to other bikes back then, it was lighter and was just the dogs danglies (at that time). I rode small stage races on it and at the end would ache no end in my back and legs, didn't mind as I knew I had the fastest bike possible.
I think "modern" bikes are not only clearly faster but also transmit less stress into your body. The one thing they don't do better is last! I manage to break/wear out equipment far too regularly.

Hi,
I actually have just ordered it over the phone. Size wise I have compared the frame geo they publish against three other road bikes I have and a track bike. I replaced a (written off) training bike with a Preffisio of theirs in January by doing the same process, it worked well then so no reason why it shouldn't this time.

Shipped today, will have it on Thursday. Will glue the tubs Thursday night will have to wait to Saturday to ride it.
Race entered for Easter Monday at Hogg Hill - skin of my teeth to have it in time - can't wait to get it on the climbs, my combined weight of bike and rider will be 75kg's (I'm 5 foot 10 inch and a bit) - awesome.
Will post pics/ride thoughts next week

I clung to the back of the 3/4's for some of the race but couldn't sustain the final laps and got dropped!
From the Garmin if you can hold 14-15 up the hill and 25-27 on the flat you will be in the pack quite comfortably...that's with zero wind though.
The hill is quite the sod to get up and I found being a 4th myself vs seasoned 3rd's most had least an extra gear going up. The downhill is awesome though and you can take loads of people if you are aggressive in and out of the hairpin. Will be heading back there as soon as I finish building a bike...sod competing there on a 10kg bike
Good luck with it!
