The only negative I can say is that I have size 48 shoes and so it means, with the covers on, my feet are MASSIVE hehe
It also means your feet are MASSIVE without the covers wink

You know what they say about blokes with big feet?

Anybody found any that actually work? I have a set which keep the water out for a while, but it's not long enough to get to work so now I don't bother and just put up with wet feet. Fortunately the drying facilities at work are very good.
I have the Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Barrier ones ( http://www.probikekit.com/uk/clothing/cycling-clot... ) - not only do they keep my feet dry, they also keep them very warm! Highly recommended. The only negative I can say is that I have size 48 shoes and so it means, with the covers on, my feet are MASSIVE hehe
You should cut the ends off. For aero.

Gah. blue skies early afternoon. check metcheck.. all good. close over the blind a touch to stop the sun glare on my screen.

This apparently was the cue for the heavens to reopen. It's going to be a long swim home.

ps. If you're feeling bored, pick me a route home. Sub 25 miles, fishponds (bs16) to paulton (bs39). Need to find some new ideas. Main routes atm are ncn 4 -> ncn 3 -> a37 and ncn 4-> regional route 10 -> a39.

Same here, bright blue skies and the weather forecast is good....cycle 2 miles from work and hit a wall of water and blustery winds for the next 9 miles.

Returned to the flat where my flat mate dutifully took the piss!

i was lucky. it pissed down till about 10 mins before leaving work then pissed down five mins after i got home leaving me having a lovely sunny ride home. it was so bright i was glad to have a spare pair of sunglasses in the bottom of my rucksack.
makes up for yesterdays drenching a bit.

Ride home was a mixed bag. Decided to explore new route, kicks up and over a short but steep hill, roll down into a beautiful little village beyond. Decide to extend and take the route i'd considered previously but rated as a bit long for a commute.

End up in proper farming territory, every road covered in a film of slick mud and grass growing down the middle. 12% gradients, wrong turn, somehow end up at the bottom of rush hill and end up coming home via bath.

if your feet are soaking wet they weigh more so its more force being applied to the pedal.

or something like that.

I bought some Sealskinz waterproof socks.
They're expensive, and I haven't been standing in any puddles, but my feet are toasty after riding through some rainstorms recently.
Obviously if you have rivers running down your legs they're not going to be that effective.

Always pleasing when that happens, but my word it's frustrating how often the opposite happens - rain during your ride, then sun the moment you walk through the door hehe

Sounds like you ended up on the roads I do my running training around. Quite hilly around there hehe I can't access your link - is it public?

I cycled in for the first time in ages today. Took me forever at home to get sorted as I'd forgotten which stuff I needed etc paperbag Ride in was easy enough although I'll probably go by the main road next time rather than the riverside cyclepath - should be quicker as I'll be with cars rather than pedestrians.

Rule #5! Didn't think it was too bad really, arm warmers, 3/4s and one layer smile

But if you're offering biggrin

Bib shorts, t-shirt and long-sleeve over the top, fingerless gloves and no socks. To be honest, once I go moving it was fine. New record for the commute in, helped by actually not getting stopped at any lights. (Don't think that's ever happened before, and I doubt it will again...

Chilly for me this morning too; 7c, so not too bad. S/s jersey, L/S jersey and neck warmer did the job. Bloody cold ears now though hehe
